Single car unit 153372 climbs up the grade towards Liskeard after passing beneath the viaduct forming the 0746 from Looe.

FINALLY! :) A completed Single Girl quilt top! I finished off the last three blocks assembly line style last night. I was determined to get this one done!

As much as I sometimes wanted to abandon this project and give up, I'm glad I persevered. I like it much better now. It's far from perfect, there are some pretty wonky gathers in a few arcs, but oh well, it was never going to be perfect!

Single figures at last! Only 9 current UK mainline locos to photograph now (not including those currently at Longport which have yet to enter revenue earning traffic).

This runs at an incredibly low rpm. Inside the building of the Heritage Society which is an old ice rink.

The signalman takes the single line token from Devizes as a weekend diversion joins the Melksham line. It will rejoin the usual route at Westbury.

Monks filter out of a dzong in Bhutan, after a long afternoon worship service. Dzongs are interesting places. Unlike traditional Buddhist monasteries in SE Asia, dzongs are a type of fortress-monastery that serves both a religious function as well as an administrative and social center. Dzongs house both monks and governmental offices, embodying the intertwining of religious and secular authority in Bhutanese society. Bhutan's state religion, as you would expect, is Mahayana Buddhism, and it is officially enshrined in their constitution.

I'm totally obsessed with Beyonce's Single Ladies at the moment =)

Here's a link to the song.

I wish the power lines weren't there, but they are, so that's how it is! Just across from the closest Dollar General Store that is closest to us!

Water, love the stuff. Be it falling asleep in the bath, long showers, getting caked in the muddy variety out on a mountain bike, using it as an excuse to slide the car about, listening to waves crashing at the shore or the rain tapping on the window. Always, completely, just plain good.

One of my favourite song lyrics (though just possibly from a song of dubious taste): "I listen to the rain, whispering your name, like hurricanes..." As a young and impressionable guy listening to the album that came off, and the live recordings of it, as a way to teach myself (slowly) how to play the drums, those words struck me. They don't get old. Every single time I hear the whispering roar of rain on the roof, the tappety (paradiddle) nature of drops on the window, I think of that. And now, here, on a quiet day I can sit in the living room, and hear this sea you see before you slowly lapping at the shore.

It soothes me. Finally. At last. :-)
