USS Simpson (FFG-56) was an Oliver Hazard Perry-class guided missile frigate of the United States Navy, named for Rear Admiral Rodger W. Simpson.
Simpson was laid down at Bath Iron Works, Bath, Maine, on 27 February 1984, launched on 31 August 1984 sponsored by Mrs. Grace Fowles-Simpson widow of Rodger W. Simpson and commissioned on 21 September 1985 in Newport, Rhode Island. The ship was delivered 13 September 1985. Bath Iron Works plans called for delivery to occur 9 August 1985, but that date slipped due to an extended strike at BIW that began 30 June 1985. Simpson was homeported at Naval Station Newport until switching to Naval Station Norfolk on 31 March 1994. Simpson moved to Naval Station Mayport in July 2001.
Simpson was part of the Active Naval Reserve Force, Category A from 2002 until her decommissioning in September 2015. She was the final Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate in service in the United States Navy.
On September 25, 2025, nearly 10 years after her decommissioning, Simpson was towed from Philiadelphia. On September 28, she was sunk in a SINKEX operation during UNITAS.

I couldnt find any information about this grave - the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry must have, at this time, been starting to train for their glider landings on D-Day
Cora was the youngest daughter of Gustave and Henrietta Evert.
They are buried in the Medaryville Town Cemetery, White Post Township, Pulaski County, Indiana.
She being the only child to remain living in the area, the Simpsons managed the hotel property until 1939.
She was sued by her siblings in a dispute over the rental proceeds for the properties. The suit led to the hotel being sold to Bayard Planck.
Her husband, who had come to Medaryville from rural Francesville (his family appears in the biographical history of the county) was an early Medaryville entrepreneur. He built and operated an opera house ("The Primo Theater") just across the tracks from the hotel, and later operated an insurance and realty business in the Drummer's House, which had been deeded over to the Simpsons before Gustave Evert's death.
Which reminds me, I have yet to see the movie. I promised I'd take the kids, and its been so crappy out that I'm surprised they haven't called me on this. "Mom, its rainy out, and you said, 'Next rainy day....' "
