A wonderful Coigach morning waiting for a sunrise, with freezing feet from walking through unseen peat bogs in the dark frozen morning. I was annoyed by the contrails, but as there was so little cloud, they helped. Simmer down , by Bob Marley, is probably good advice for me!

Ratcliffe power station simmers, even on a mid 20c summer day on 07/07/22. Providing railway interest at Gateway West Jn, Hemington, are DB Cargo's 66004 which is waiting to depart from the East Midlands Gateway departure line with 4L76 2009 to Felixstowe, but is held for DRS 66424 to pass with 6X97 Toton-Basford Hall, conveying a Railvac machine.

NS 7278, 4042, and 7696 lead 148 06 eastbound on the western outskirts of Hull, IL on the NS Springfield-Hannibal District. Taken on 6/6/21.
Kinmedai (splendid alfonsino, Beryx splendens) is a deep sea fish with large eyes that inhabits the sea bed at the depth of 200 to 800 m. Kinmedai literally means "golden eyed sea-bream" although it is not a species related to the sparidae family.
It is a local speciality of Ogasawara and Izu islands due to their geographical proximity to the Pacific sea trench.
Heads of fish are offered at lower prices as they need additional chopstick skills to get meats from the head bones. These meats often taste better.
Attached herb is Hagoromo (Ming aralia, Polyscias fruticosa), a perennial shrub native to Polynesia. The government says it is an invasive species.
