---------------------------------

Have you ever thought that the word Margherita had several intrinsic meanings? All that is called Margherita has simplicity, but a simplicity that is enough in itself. A Margherita is a beautiful flower although its appearance is without frills, the Margherita pizza is the most classic but it is timeless and the Margherita cake is so simple but delicious. The word Margherita means "pearl" and all that bears this name is a perfectly round white pearl, simple but incredibly beautiful.

Borgo Parrini is a small fraction of the municipality of Partinico, in the province of Palermo, characterized by colorful houses decorated in full Gaudì style.

The name derives from the fact that the fields around Partinico were bought by the Jesuit fathers in the 1500s. The name parrini, in fact, in Sicilian means priests.

So it was an area managed by the religious consisting of a small country church and a convent around which, later, the village arose with lodgings for the settlers and agricultural labourers.

In 1767, then, this village became the property of the French prince Henri d'Orleans who set up a farm for the production of a wine that soon became much appreciated and sought after. After the Second World War many of the inhabitants preferred to move to the city and the village remained almost uninhabited and therefore began its inevitable decline.

Today very few people live there who, however, in the last ten years have decided to give the village a new life. A local entrepreneur had the intuition to make it an unusual place and started a renovation of the houses in the style of the Catalan artist Gaudì.

The facades of the houses are colored with bright colors and writings, the walls have mosaic decorations and colorful tiles and the small village has become a very popular place for travellers.

Until 1860, the year in which Barcelona finally broke out from behind its city walls, the city extended no further than the hexagon of the 15th century enclosure ( the present-day Casc Antic) that lies between these streets: the Rondes de Sant Pau, de Sant Antoni, d'Universitat, and de Sant Pere, the Passeig de Lluís Companys, the Avinguda Marquès de l'Argentera, which continues as the Passeig Colom, and the Avinguda del Paral.lel. The only wide street at the heart of the city was La Rambla, an old stream whose name derives from the Arabic "ramla" meaning "sandy ground".

Until the beginning of the 18th century La Rambla consisted merely of a path beside a stream running between convents on one side and the old city walls on the other. It was in 1704 that the first houses were put up at the Boqueria on the site of the old city walls and the first trees were planted. In 1775 the old city walls by the Drassanes medieval shipyards were demolished, and toward the end of the 18th century the street began to be systematically developed: la Rambla became a kind of tree-lined avenue. From upper end, which runs into the Plaça Catalunya, to the lower end below the monument to Columbus, this unique street in fact bears five different names, each describing a section of the street: first, there is La Rambla de Canaletes, a name used by the people of Barcelona because of the Font de les Canaletes fountain, found there since ancient times. Folk tradition has it that anyone who drinks from this fountain will subsequently keep returning to Barcelona. The next section of La Rambla is known as La Rambla dels Estudis, after the mid-15th century building of that name, the Estudi General or Universitat. This university in Barcelona was suppressed by Philip V and the building used as a barracks. In 1843 it was demolished. If you continue down toward the sea you will enter the stretch known as La Rambla de les Flors, the only place in 19th-century Barcelona that flowers were sold and which even today preserves its that old special charm. Next comes La Rambla del Centre, also known as La Rambla dels Caputxins, because of the old house of Capuchin friars there. And finally, there is the stretch of La Rambla called La Rambla de Santa Mònica, giving access to the port, called after the parish church there which previously had been the religious house of the Agustins Descalços (Barefoot Augustinian order).

By the way, the icelandic name Kirkjuffel means "mountain church" because if you look carefully you will see that it looks like the roof of a church. As a curiosity, this area was frequented by Danish sailors living in the past and gave it the name of "Top of sugar" by its appearance spongy when the summit is covered with snow.

The Hungarian Parliament Building (Hungarian: Országház, which translates to House of the Country or House of the Nation) is the seat of the National Assembly of Hungary, one of Europe's oldest legislative buildings, a notable landmark of Hungary and a popular tourist destination of Budapest. It lies in Lajos Kossuth Square, on the bank of the Danube. It is currently the largest building in Hungary and still the tallest building in Budapest.

After World War II the diet became single-chambered and today the government uses only a small portion of the building. During the communist regime a red star perched on the top of the dome, but was removed in 1990. Mátyás Szűrös declared the Hungarian Republic from the balcony facing Lajos Kossuth Square on 23 October 1989.

The Parliament Building is in the Gothic Revival style; it has a symmetrical facade and a central dome. The dome is Renaissance Revival architecture.[3] Also from inside the parliament is symmetrical and thus has two absolutely identical parliament halls out of which one is used for the politics, the other one is used for guided tours. It is 268 m (879 ft) long and 123 m (404 ft) wide. Its interior includes 10 courtyards, 13 passenger and freight elevators, 27 gates, 29 staircases and 691 rooms (including more than 200 offices).

...

Porto or Oporto is the second-largest city in Portugal and one of the Iberian Peninsula's major urban areas. Porto city proper, which is the entire municipality of Porto, is small compared to its metropolitan area, with an estimated population of just 215,945 people in a municipality with only 41.42 km2. Porto's metropolitan area has around 1.7 million people (2019) in an area of 2,395 km2 (925 sq mi), making it the second-largest urban area in Portugal. It is recognized as a global city with a Gamma + rating from the Globalization and World Cities Research Network.

Located along the Douro River estuary in northern Portugal, Porto is one of the oldest European centres, and its core was proclaimed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996, as "Historic Centre of Porto, Luiz I Bridge and Monastery of Serra do Pilar". The historic area is also a National Monument of Portugal. The western part of its urban area extends to the coastline of the Atlantic Ocean. Its settlement dates back many centuries, when it was an outpost of the Roman Empire. Its combined Celtic-Latin name, Portus Cale, has been referred to as the origin of the name Portugal, based on transliteration and oral evolution from Latin. In Portuguese, the name of the city includes a definite article: o Porto ("the port" or "the harbor"), which is where its English name "Oporto" comes from.

Port wine, one of Portugal's most famous exports, is named after Porto, since the metropolitan area, and in particular the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia, were responsible for the packaging, transport, and export of fortified wine. In 2014 and 2017, Porto was elected The Best European Destination by the Best European Destinations Agency. Porto is on the Portuguese Way path of the Camino de Santiago. Porto is also the home of one of the country's most successful football clubs, FC Porto.

If you’re looking for a forever friend, there are a million reasons to give that pet a forever home. But there is a movement happening, which is “Adopt, Don’t Shop”. This basically means that if you’re planning on getting a dog or a cat (or any animal, really), instead of going to an online seller or a pet store, you should go to an animal shelter near you and adopt through there. Instead of shopping for an animal, you are adopting an animal. Just like you wouldn’t be shopping for a child, you shouldn’t be shopping for a pet.

Mimi (Rescued by mistreatment at 6 months old 4 years ago)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albaicín

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Albaicín (Spanish pronunciation: [alβajˈθin]) or Albayzín (Arabic: ٱلْبَيّازِينْ‎) as it was known under Muslim rule,[disputed – discuss] is a district of Granada, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. It retains the narrow winding streets of its Medieval Moorish past dating back to the Zirid dynasty.[citation needed] It was declared a World Heritage Site in 1984, along with the Alhambra.

The area that later became the Albayzín was first populated by the Iberians, the original inhabitants of the Iberian peninsula, with dispersed Roman settlements later appearing nearby. Nothing is known of its history before the arrival of the Muslim Berbers, so it is assumed that the city was abandoned after the fall of the Roman Empire until the founding of the Zirid kingdom in 1013, when its defensive walls were built. According to some linguists it owes its present name to the inhabitants of the city of Baeza, called "Beatia" by the Romans, who were banished after the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa and settled here outside the walls. Other linguists assert that the name derives from the Arabic al-bayyāzīn (pronounced al-bayyīzīn with the imāla vowel-shift), meaning "suburb of falconers". However, the fact that in Andalusia there are many other neighborhoods with that name, including those in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Alhama de Granada, Salobreña, and Antequera, among others, casts doubt on this thesis. A more likely hypothesis is that the name of Albaicín derives from Arabic البائسين (al-bāʾisīn, 'the miserable' [plural]).[1]

The Albaicín, one of the oldest centers of Muslim culture in Granada, contains the Alhambra, the Realejo (which was the Jewish quarter), and the Arrabal de Bib-Arrambla, in the flat part of the city. Before the Muslim conquest of the Iberian Peninsula there were three small settlements in what is now the city of Granada and its surroundings:

Vedado, La Habana, Cuba.

- The old Vedado district is bordered to the east by Central Havana district and west by the Miramar / Playa district, just north of Plaza de la Revolución, the central administrative division of the Cuban government.
