What to do on a sidewalk cafe when you don't have a smartphone and are getting cold feet? Knitting socks in Bernkastel (Germany - Mosel region)!

Recently I saw in YouTube a video of Jeff Mermelstein, describing his "street technique", today I've tried to do the same thing.

The exercise was not easy, the result not completely satisfactory.

.Sidewalk strategies.

As the diners dine the chess board remains unattended and is waiting for the next contenders to step up and play.

It is a game of wits and strategy and players seem to walk around the 'board' at times for agonising minutes as they ponder and strategise over their next move.

I love this sidewalk chalk!

In autumn I have often noted the remaining silhouettes of fallen leaves on the sidewalk, but this cluster really caught my attention.

Kaki King - Night After Sidewalk

I believe the shoes in this photo represent my feet exploring the world since I got to London, half a year ago. I had never left Brazil before and this made me change in so many ways.

I was heading to the Thames that night to show the lights to my family, who came to visit me (they didn't know Europe as well) this week. I barely processed this one in lightroom, since the natural light was quite pretty, in my opinion.

As we left the bookstore, I realised the day was coming to an end. I was excited to be there, even though I had walked through those steps many times before.

The Thames reflected colourful lights. A man played an italian song with an acordeon. Everything was in place, as I forgot all my problems and concerns. I knew, as the sky turned pink, purple and dark blue, that someday I will be loved again.

It has been so long since I had wished for that, but now after so many years I can tell what my heart starts to whisper, slowly: love is not a weakness, as I have so foolishly thought. It is a strength, and also a way to be courageous.

I was walking through the same path as many nights before, watching the same lights as many times before, but when I left the river, two hours later, I was a different woman.

A school now not it use, has led to no maintenance for the sidewalks, where wabi sabi Japanese principles maintain that beauty becomes even more fascinating by observing the decay.

Und natürlich kommt dieser Anlass wiedermal recht um etwas anderes von Berlin zu sehen, bzw. Eindrücke zu sammeln.
