Lathe side-view. It's a 1960's Craftsman/Atlas 618. I built the table this weekend: 4 cm thick oak for the top, and another thin layer of plywood below, all glued for a nice strong box structure. I'll build drawers eventually. Lathes need a stiff mounting system or the beds will twist. I levelled the bed using aluminum eaves sheeting material to make sure the bed was as dead flat as my level could measure.
Thought I'd show this old picture of a rather different view of Pratts Falls east of Syracuse - taken from the side and on the same level as the top of the falls.
