CORNWERD / WADDENZEE - In the case of shrimp fisheries, they maximize their catch per unit effort by using commercial fishing gear called a trawl. Trawling involves pulling a weighted, sock shaped net through a water column or on the sea floor in order to exploit the catch of a target species

The Mexican shrimp plant, or Justicia brandegeeana, is a native of Guatemala, Honduras, and as its name implies, Mexico.

With the prospect of a decent sunset, I popped to the coast and what an eventful evening on the "longest day of the Year".
I had a recce at Sandylands before I went to the location pictured here. I didn't find anything that grabbed me there, so I walked back to the car. As I did so, a young couple were heading along the walkway towards me on their cycles when suddenly the young lady inadvertently clashed into her partners bike and she crashed heavily. It was clear she was badly injured, I ran over and she had fractured her right arm and possibly her collar bone too. So I provided first aid and called an ambulance. That took quite a while and after finding a local resident to provide a blanket and pillow for her, it was a wait for the Ambulance which actually came pretty quickly.
Anyway, I still had about 45 minutes until sunset, so I went near the Midland Hotel and put my wellies on and headed out onto the receding tide to a couple of the "Shrimping boats" that were quickly being left high and dry.
Here is one of the first shots I took before I saw a lovely golden sunset. It certainly felt like the longest day!
Snowy egret goes through a ritual after catching prey. It will hold it, squeeze it, shift it around some in its bill, and when it's no longer likely to get away, it will open it's bill quickly. For a brief moment, the prey is suspended in mid air (captured in this image) as the bird moves its head forward a bit. This action places the prey in the very back of its mouth when the bill is closed. At that point, one swallow and it's on its way down the gullet. And the backlighting was a nice touch as well...

Hymenocera picta, commonly known as the harlequin shrimp, is a species of saltwater shrimp found at coral reefs in the tropical Indian and Pacific oceans. It is usually considered the only species in the genus Hymenocera, but some split it into two species: H. picta from the central and east Pacific where the spots are deep pinkish-purple with a yellow edge, and H. elegans from the Indian Ocean and west Pacific where the spots are more brownish and have a blue edge. They reach about 5 centimetres (2.0 in) in length, live in pairs and feed exclusively on starfish, including crown-of-thorns starfish. It does seem to prefer smaller, more sedentary starfish, but as these generally are not sufficiently numerous for its needs, it commonly will attack Acanthaster, both reducing its consumption of coral while under attack, and killing it within a few days. Found in Lembeh Strait, North Sulawesi, Indonesia

Camarón
Flor-camarão
plant is a bushy evergreen shrub growing to 100 cm (39 in) tall. The flowers emerge from bracts that form off the stems. The bracts start out white, but with more sun exposure they turn anywhere from pale pink to deep red. A chain of bracts will continue to grow until it falls off in most cases; thus the chains can grow anywhere from a few centimetres to nearly 30 cm (1 ft) in length. Flowers usually are long, thin, and white with speckled maroon throats. Blooming continues for months once it has begun, then halts for a short period before starting again. The flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies
Early offshoots of an evolutionary line that led to modern crustaceans, the so-called anomalocaridids looked sort of like modern shrimp. This replica is created based on fossilized remains. Seen in the Houston Museum of Natural Science.
A friend's picture gave me this idea so thanks!!! Created in MidJourney and completed in Photoshop..
A useful tip for boiling Shrimp, put your frozen Shrimp in a pot cover with cold water and when the water starts to boil pull them off the fire,

Miner’s Urchin Shrimp (Gnathophylloides mineri) is also called Dwarf Urchin Shrimp and is closely related to the bumblebee shrimp. They can be found on sea urchins in shallow waters and are usually seen holding on to one of the spines of the sea urchin. This shrimp species often lives in pairs.

Rhynchocinetes durbanensis, commonly known as the camel shrimp and the hingebeak prawn, is a species of shrimp (family Rhynchocinetidae) found in the Indo-Pacific. Up to 4 cm (1.6 in) in length, the shrimp has large black eyes, and features red and white lines on a translucent body. It has many white spots as well as a Y-shaped white mark on the upper front part of its carapace. (Wikipedia)

Always try to make eye contact, they say. I think I nailed it here...
Manipontonia psamathe is a species of pontoniine shrimp in the family Palaemonidae, commonly known as the translucent gorgonian shrimp or black coral shrimp, characterized by its small size—reaching up to 2.5 cm in length—and its translucent body adapted for life in coral reef environments. The coloration of M. psamathe is predominantly translucent, enhancing camouflage among the branching structures of gorgonian corals, with two distinct red lines running along the carapace and abdomen for subtle patterning.
