Snowy Egret in Mating Colors and Feathers
Snowy Egrets show their plumage during mating/breeding season. They start to show in early spring and keep their feathers for quite a while. Their beaks turn more of a yellow/orange/red color during the season. You will find these birds in shallow salt and fresh water areas with a small flock wading and dancing about. They will approach one another, start squawking, inflate their feathers and chase each other about. Sometimes they will start jumping in the air flapping their wings and dance around one another until one gives up and backs off.

A mallard drake who decided to show off the best pose that he could possibly muster.
Thank you so much for stopping by and for leaving me a comment, I really appreciate it. Have a great day!
Not only does the Baltimore Oriole (m) advertise his presence with his bright plummage but are also energetic and strident vocalists. This one sat singing his tunes as I whistled back at him and enjoyed his responces.

Pretty light and clouds were on the Morning Show for this pretty area of Maine. The Schoodic Point are is north and east of the main area of Acadia National Park. If you want a quiet area from the main park areas, this is your spot ;)
Many witnessed this glorious sight one morning in September of last year in the hills of central Kentucky. We all had the feeling that the end was near and the demise of coal would be the final nail in the coffin for this resilient shortline railroad. Those thoughts came to fruition as the transloading facility was announced to be closed last month making sights like this a thing of the past.

The Japanese Peony Show in Brooklyn Botanic Garden happens every year. It is a big celebration of beauty. Peonies are a precious gift from Japan that arrived in the Garden many years ago.
This guy put on quite a show. Enjoyed every second as I rarely see these. A Lesser Yellowlegs enjoying the beautiful November morning.
Vermont Railway's southbound NPWJ nears Bradford, VT with VTR 307 leading a short 4 car train for White River Junction. Here the train is about to duck under the old tell-tales and wooden bridge outside town. With good track and decent sun for most of its journey, it was much needed redemption from my failed chase on the New Hampshire Northcoast.
In what is without a doubt one of my best days of shooting this year, ECT leads a WNYP storage train east of Corry PA with a foamers dream lashup of MLW and Alco products. As the foamers came into view ECT was kind enough to give us a grand smoke show which completed a awesome scene!
Two members of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds perform at the 2018 Thunder Over Michigan air show in Ypsilanti, Michigan. There is no photo trickery here, just a straight shot as the pair passed by on the flight line with one flying upside down.
I love how animals have this natural way of letting everyone know they do look amazing. That´s how some propose mating, capture other creatures basically luring and some just to create magic for all of us to see. My camera basically froze just letting this little beauty show off those wings with Summer orange colors, gazing upon me just like the sun above me.
Have a lovely Wednesday, Let´s enjoy the last days of Summer until Fall reaches our trees and animals.
I understand we will not have the Orchid Show this year so here are some photos from 2020.

Easter is here this Sunday. No Easter Car Show in Forest Park this year due to the COVID. I guess we'll have to let these old cars get 1 year older before we see them next year.

Another slide restoration that took a bit of time.
It's from Summer 1980 but could really be at any point from the 1950s onwards, such shows seemed unchanging in villages and towns across the UK.
Happy Easter!
Explore March 16/08 ...Canada Goose Greater Canada Geese have also been introduced in Europe, and have established populations in Great Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Scandinavia. Semi-tame feral birds are common in parks, and have become a pest in some areas. It is now proven that most Scandinavian and some British birds have established a migration pattern. The geese were first introduced in Britain in the late 17th century as an addition to King James II's waterfowl collection in St. James's Park. Finally, Canada Geese were introduced as a game bird into New Zealand, but they have also become a problem in some areas there. note the mess left behind by groups of Canada Geese make some parks etc a mess to walk around! 1960 Morris Minor 1000 Pickup
We don't see Morris Minor on the streets over here. Occasionally I see one in car shows, but I've never seen a Pickup Truck.
Morris Minor have a special place for me. When I was a kid and lived in England in the late 50's, we owned a Morris Minor woody station wagon. Neat car!
