Snowy Egret in Mating Colors and Feathers
Snowy Egrets show their plumage during mating/breeding season. They start to show in early spring and keep their feathers for quite a while. Their beaks turn more of a yellow/orange/red color during the season. You will find these birds in shallow salt and fresh water areas with a small flock wading and dancing about. They will approach one another, start squawking, inflate their feathers and chase each other about. Sometimes they will start jumping in the air flapping their wings and dance around one another until one gives up and backs off.

Easter is here this Sunday. No Easter Car Show in Forest Park this year due to the COVID. I guess we'll have to let these old cars get 1 year older before we see them next year.

This red winged black bird gave the best display that I have seen one give. The light condition were horrible but he put on a wonderful show.

We don't see Morris Minor on the streets over here. Occasionally I see one in car shows, but I've never seen a Pickup Truck.
Morris Minor have a special place for me. When I was a kid and lived in England in the late 50's, we owned a Morris Minor woody station wagon. Neat car!

Semi-tame feral birds are common in parks, and have become a pest in some areas. It is now proven that most Scandinavian and some British birds have established a migration pattern. The geese were first introduced in Britain in the late 17th century as an addition to King James II's waterfowl collection in St. James's Park. Finally, Canada Geese were introduced as a game bird into New Zealand, but they have also become a problem in some areas there. note the mess left behind by groups of Canada Geese make some parks etc a mess to walk around! Cruising over a crossing near Odell, BC, former BC Rail Jordan Spreader 996301 looms large as it kicks up powder heading north. What looks like a scene from the 1980's was actually taken earlier this year. Back in February of 2025, I had the privilege of shooting this metal monstrosity on its old stomping grounds of the Chetwynd Subdivision. At first it was assumed that a CN spreader would be performing the day's snow clearing work. However, it was quite the surprise when down the line this aging piece of railway machinery appeared sporting the "expo 86" style of BC Rail font. Faintly showing behind the cracked and sun-bleached black paint, the words "British Columbia Railway" can be seen harking back to when this spreader was brand new. To top it all off, the original Nathan K5H horn still adorned the cab of the spreader but was unfortunately non-functioning.
