Bouquet

I went dumpster diving and found this bouquet waiting for capture. Rich colors join clear patterns and lines. I can almost reach out and pick it but use a camera instead to keep for the ages.

Water Screen

A cascading water wall turns an ordinary street scene into an abstract. altered reality. Wonderful repeating textures morph light and objects into a pattern that delights my eye. A small clearing gives substance to a sole walker in that other world. She has no idea what kind of wonder surrounds her.

Time Keeps on Slipping

A bridge railing giving way to harsh weather loses its paint to the elements. Brilliant sun casts a diagonal shadow to give more drama to the strong colors. An hourglass of sorts - at least to my eye. I love finding little treasures in unexpected places and capturing them.

Red Rings

Reflections upon reflections build layers of design and color on the sensor. Patterns emerge as shapes repeat. Light intensifies deep hues. There is energy here that keeps a static scene from feeling still.

Tailwind

ICM, intentional camera movement, takes advantage of a simple color palette to tell a simple story. Lines surround the walking woman in a slight diagonal cant. Red joins her magenta coat to add a spark of energy and potentially clarify her intended path. Rich light provided detail and there is sharpness about - places to rest my eye.

Denver Union Station - I've seen this angle several times, but never got my own capture before. A light dusting of snow added a nice element.

Tech Tip: Snow is wonderful in images, but can create real color challenges, especially in the city where the snow reflects all the different lights, all producing different colors.

The eyedropper tool in Camera RAW usually handles this nicely. Just select a snow covered area and all the snow turns white. No so in this image. I had to use multiple layers to brighten and whiten colored snow throughout the image.

Multiple exposures emphasize the human figure and the graffiti that surrounds her. Light gives energy with its diagonal slant as it highlight areas of interest and directs my eye.

Pay Attention

Reflections and silhouettes create a bit of mystery. No composite here. Just shooting what I see. Bold shapes and lines - strong black against softer shade all add visual interest. Nice weighting with details and open spaces. Simple color tones let the content speak clearly without color disruption. If you don't hear it, that's okay. It called out to me and I answered.

Not a composite - as shot :-)

Canyonlands Sunset

The overlook of the Green River at Canyonlands is a magnificent vista, and at sunset, the view is inspiring.

Timeless cablecars plow the streets of San Francisco collecting time and memories along the way. A collage of parts join to tell a story of passing moments.
