The Shiva deity carving on the pediment of the eastern entrance of the main sanctuary of Phanom Rung.

Wikipedia: Phanom Rung (Thai: ปราสาทหินพนมรุ้ง – Phanom Rung Stone Castle), is a Hindu Khmer Empire Temple complex set on the rim of an extinct volcano at 402 meters (1,319 ft) elevation. It is located in Buriram Province in the Isan region of Thailand, and was built at a time when Khmer social-political influences were significant in Srisaket. It was built of sandstone and laterite between the 10th and 13th centuries. It was a Hindu shrine dedicated to Shiva, and symbolizes Mount Kailash, his heavenly dwelling. The Phanom Rung sanctuary compound was constructed over several phases, dated by means of iconography of its art and architectural styles together with its inscriptions. These comprise two foundations of sacred brick buildings of 10th century B.C., the minor sanctuary of 11th century, the central sanctuary built by king Suryavarman II’s relative Narentratitaya in 12th century and two Bannalais (libraries) of the 13th century. Further sacred buildings built in the reign of King Jayavarman VII in 13th century, including the Royal attire Changing Pavilion, the Kudi Rishis of Nong Bua Ray, the medical center or hospital (Arokayasala) and Prasat Ban Bu, a rest house with fire where travelers could shelter (Dharmasala) on the plain at the foot of Phanom Rung, alongside the road linking Angkor and Phimai. These evidence an important vice-regal center on and around the mountain that flourishes from the 10th to the 13th centuries.

Nataraja or Nataraj, (Hindustani: [nət̪əˈraːdʒə]), The Lord (or King) of Dance; Tamil: கூத்தன் (Koothan); Malayalam: നടരാജ ; Telugu: నటరాజ; Kannada: ನಟರಾಜ, is a depiction of the god Shiva as the cosmic dancer who performs his divine dance to destroy a weary universe and make preparations for the god Brahma to start the process of creation.

We are praying for you. Shiva is my son's dog that was diagnosed with Canine Anaplasmose about 2 weeks ago. In this time she went from a very agile 2 year old to barely able to move, eat or drink. She is in an animal clinic and it is uncertain if she will come through. We are all heart broken. Not sure when I will be posting again.

Bahurupis in Bengal:

Bahurupi artists in West Bengal easily metamorphose into different characters during a performance, but are finding it hard to change their work roles with changing times.“We have to hold on to Bahurupi to survive. Their families don’t have any agricultural land to be able to do farming,” Bahurupi artists like him( male middle aged person) are performers who enact multiple religious and mythological roles and who travel to various villages and towns to perform a sequence of skits over several days. This once-popular folk art form is now vanishing in rural West Bengal.

Marundeeswarar Temple is a temple dedicated to Hindu deity Shiva, located in Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai. Marundeeswarar (Lord, specifically Shiva, of Medicines ) is known so because he imparted sage Agastya on curative properties of various herbs and plants. Since then the Marundeeswarar temple has been a place of worship for people with diseases and various problems with their health. The temple is from the Pallava period (7th CE) and widely expanded during the Chola dynasty (11 CE).

The Ganges in flood during the monsoon season, Varanasi, also Benares.

Scindia Ghatis one of the ghats in Varanasi and borders Manikarnika, a place of Hindu cremation, to the north. At this ghat, a tilted Shiva temple can be found lying partially submerged in the Ganges River and it is argued that this ghat collapsed under its own excessive weight.

Located in the center of the Ganges valley, the region around the city is very fertile, thanks to the river's floods which moisten the land and thus make it possible to practice rice cultivation.

For Macro Monday's "Spiral"

This is a shiva shell pendant. HMM to all and thanks for looking.

Discovered on the seabed in the shallow tropical waters of Thailand and Indonesia, the gem is actually the protective door found at the opening of the Turban Snail’s shell, which towards the end of the snail’s natural life, detaches and sinks to the seabed. Although each spiral is similar in pattern, as with all organic gemstones, each one will vary slightly.

Across the gem-rich countries of India, Tibet and Sri Lanka, many Hindus worship the god Shiva. Many pictures of Shiva show a third eye in the middle of the god’s forehead and it is from this that the gem’s name is derived.

Shiva shell or Shiva Eye symbolizes the creation, preservation and destruction of all from the flow of life, the constant change in the world, spiritual knowledge to creative visualization. Known as mermaids' money it is thought to be a good luck charm for fishermen. The eye of Shiva is supposed to assist in the accrual of wealth.

The Adiyogi Shiva bust is a 34-metre-tall (112 ft), 45-metre-long (147 ft) and 25-metre-wide (82 ft) steel bust of Shiva with Thirunamam at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. It is recognized by the Guinness World Records as the "Largest Bust Sculpture” in the world. Designed by Sadhguru, the founder and head of the Isha Foundation, the statue weighs around 500 tonnes (490 long tons; 550 short tons).

Adiyogi refers to Shiva as the first yogi. It was established to inspire people towards inner well-being through yoga.

dans la série on fait ce qu'on peut avec ce qu'il reste...

This is my own figurine...reworked with a floral background.

Lingam or Shiva Linga means "mark" or "sign" is a symbol for the worship of the Hindu Diety Shiva.

Existing back to Indus Valley civilization, de use of this symbol is an ancient tradition in India.

लिङ्गं is originated from Sanskrit and there has been many interpretations which @ times walk away from the main concept.

I was particularly attracted to this Diety and his love for snakes, which prompted me to know n study more about these wonderful limbless animals, The Snakes!!
