AND we got the MOST delicious Mexican candy! I wish that we had this kind of candy in the States! I LOVE it, dear JJ! The girls and I send you one thousand kisses and thanks...and lots of love!!!

I am honestly at a loss for words! Just had to take some quick shots to show these...JJ's pictures of them are magical!!!

Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC) is een internationale rederij die gespecialiseerd is in containertransport. Het Italiaanse bedrijf is in 1970 opgericht en is sinds begin 2022 de grootste containerrederij ter wereld. Voor het containervervoer per spoor is vervoerder Medway opgericht, dat onderdeel is van rederij MSC. In 2022 is Medway Belgium gestart en sindsdien is deze vervoerder ook als transit in Nederland aan te treffen.

Naast de volledig bestickerde 186 224 en 186 227 rijden er Medway nog meer Traxx-locomotieven, de meesten daarvan in de groen/grijze Alphatrains-huisstijl. Gelukkig zijn er ook een aantal in de gifgroene locs in dienst bij Medway en deze zijn ook voorzien van een logo. Op de zonnige zaterdag 10 mei is de 186 112 onderweg met een vol beladen containertrein uit Neuss en passeert hier het bij Horst-Sevenum gelegen Hegelsom op weg naar Roosendaal en Antwerpen.

Today shipping day for several ranches in this area. Unfortunately there was snow, wind and cold temperatures today too. It was still a nice day with neighbors coming early to help gather and sort the cows, and also to haul them to town.

This is the day that the ranchers work for all year long, taking care of their cows and working to keep the calves alive and healthy throughout the year to make sure they get enough of a paycheck to make it through another year. Ranchers don't get rich but they ranch because they love their animals, the land and their way of life.

Het ‘Minangkabause Huis’ of Naco-gebouwtje werd in 1919 door G.F. La Croix (1877-1923) ontworpen als kantoor en aanlegsteiger voor de voormalige rederij Koppe. Van 1960 tot 2004 was het in gebruik als kantoor van de scheepvaartafdeling van de NACO, de Noordhollandsche AutoCar Onderneming.

Om gewicht te besparen en geen ruimte op de steiger te verspelen, koos de architect voor een houten gebouw op palen. In tegenstelling tot wat de naam doet vermoeden lijkt de vorm van dit gebouw eerder geïnspireerd op de bouwkunst van de Batakkers die rond het Tobameer wonen, dan op die van de Minangkabauwers, een andere Sumatraanse stam. Duidelijk is in ieder geval de invloed van de traditionele Indische architectuur, hoewel ook de invloed van houten huizen op Marken zichtbaar is. Marken was een van de bestemmingen van de rederij, en La Croix was betrokken bij de wederopbouw van het eiland na de overstroming van 1916.

Het gebouwtje werd in 2004 tijdelijk verplaatst naar Zaanstad i.v.m. de bouw van het nieuwe busstation bij CS. Stadsherstel nam het pand in 2016 over van busmaatschappij Connexxion (voortgekomen uit o.a. de Naco). Het is op een werf opgeknapt, en eind 2021 teruggeplaatst aan de kade. Het staat sindsdien bij de Oostertoegang.
