These photos are the process for felting a sheet of loose fiber with minimal processing into a sheet of felt.

There will be a brief description to follow about the individual steps under each photo, as well as different tags for the different photos.

While I am not sure my phrasing is right for this, I call this stretching the fiber. it is running all the fiber in the same direction to insure it will properly felt later, and pulling it thinner, or "stretching" it.

Crib skirt & sheet (though much of the detail is hidden by the crib bar, sadly). It was constructed to be easy to turn up while still having a nice brown border when the baby is old enough that she needs the alternate crib height. Everything was done with French seams and blind hem-stitching. Next time, I'll just line it, but I wanted it to be perfect for my friend!

This is the side on which the small sheets - Home Depot's 2'x4' sheet offerings of hardboard, pegboard, birch and standard ply, et al - will rest. All of the 2x4s here lay flat on their 4" sides. The long rails are 96" (8'), with the short studs between them being 20.5". They are spaced to frame the 4 matched 3/4" birch ply panels which are 20.5" (matching the short 2x4s) x 20.375" (20 3/8"). The outer short studs stick out equally on both sides by 1.5".

It is my intention to join most things with pocket hole screws using my Kreg K3 Master System, and as such I am hoping to join the flat panels from the underside using 2 pocket screws per panel edge into the 2x4s. The panels will not typically bear weight, but rather serve as a sliding surface when adding or removing sheets. The grain should follow the direction of the long 2x4s to assist in the sliding thereof.

I didn't have much luck catching the lightning during this storm. It seemed that no matter which direction I pointed the camera the lightening would strick somewhere else. This is one of the few shots that came out after a couple hours of shooting!
