The ATV bridge across Sheehan Run is basically solid, but the surface is a type of wire mesh used in concrete construction, with very wide gaps. I'm comfortable crossing now, but I haven't been doing anything fancy, not for fear of falling, but more of dropping something, like a camera, because then it would be gone for good... But wearing my snowshoes as I was doing on this exploration, I could do a little pirouette, and take a picture of the view up the Run towards Grover Lake. In these parts, a 'Run' is a waterway that connects lakes to each other, and/or lakes with the ocean.
Sheehan Run is the watercourse that connects Grover Lake, with Sheehan Lake and Grand Lake, and it is in the vicinity of where we live. This bridge is said to have been built by the owner of private land on one side of Sheehan Run to the other side, which is crown land.
Out here, a 'Run' is the watercourse that connects lakes with other lakes and/or the sea. Sheehan Run connects Grover Lake, Sheehan Lake and Grand Lake, and is not all that far from where we now live.
Larry took this one, This is another of the many lakes near where we live. It isn't very accessible, and in the summer I didn't try to swim there, there didn't seem to be any place to get in. It is fed by Sheehan Run coming in from the right, and is connected to Grand Lake in the distance.
Cindy Sheehan inside the big tent at Camp Casey. Behind her you can see the painted banner honoring her son and the camp's namesake, Casey Sheehan. To the left of the banner is an oversized, painted wooden casket with the names of the Americans who have died in Iraq inscribed on the side.
This impressive, hand-painted banner and tribute to Cindy Sheehan's son Casey hangs inside the tent at Camp Casey. Cindy saw it for the first time just the day before.

Watching The Wheels
John Lennon
People say I'm lazy dreaming my life away
Well they give me all kinds of advice designed to enlighten me
When I tell that I'm doing Fine watching shadows on the wall
Don't you miss the big time boy you're no longer on the ball?
I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round
I really love to watch them roll
No longer riding on the merry-go-round
I just had to let it go
People asking questions lost in confusion
Well I tell them there's no problem
Only solutions
Well they shake their heads and they look at me as if I've lost my mind
I tell them there's no hurry...
I'm just sitting here doing time
My last shoot of 2018, and we scored a cracker of a sunrise.
This in Windang Island, south of Sydney. I have been promising myself for years to go and shoot these wheels, and I've never gotten round to it until this morning. Was well worth the 3:20am rise out of bed.
Such a fantastic location, and the wheels are only a fraction of what is actually here to shoot. A stunningly good seascape location on a mid to high tide.
This year ended extremely sad for our family, and I havent felt like picking up my camera in the past week, due to lack of motivation, and grief, so this morning was my first shoot in nearly two weeks, and it was good to get back amongst it, breathe in some fresh air, get a good ol soaking in the process, and enjoy what Mother Nature had to offer.
Hopefully 2019 will be a better year.
Hope you like "Watching The Wheels"
Cheers, Mike

Sheehan Branch on Starr Mountain in the Cherokee National Forest, Monroe County, Tennessee.
Ancient home of the Creek and Cherokee...
I met up with mom, dad, and the twins for a mini-session on the beach in Charlotte.
Strobist: Vivitar 285HV in umbrella softbox high camera left, cranked to full power with a 1/2 CTO gel about 3 feet away... I could barely get f/5.6 out of it, so I had to wait for the sun to dip below the mountains before pulling this off. I clearly need more power. Might be time to splurge for some AlienBees.
