It is the maiden voyage of the Empire Line’s Atlantic steamship “Lucky Star”. Unfortunately this imposing ocean liner has inadvertently strayed from her intended course and is now sinking… having bumped into some inconveniently positioned rocks.
Passengers have been instructed to head for the lifeboats and abandon ship, but due to a previous oversight at head office… there are no lifeboats aboard the Lucky Star.
However, help is on its way. A passing tugboat, “Wee Bertha”, has answered the distress call and is steaming towards the Lucky Star with the sole intention of rescuing as many passengers as she can carry.
Unluckily, Wee Bertha is a boat of diminutive size… and she cannot rescue every man woman and child aboard the stricken vessel. To make matters worse, she dare not sail too close to the Lucky Star for fear of hitting the rocks herself.
Sharks, sensing a hearty meal is in the offing, are surrounding the sinking liner… as panicking passengers hurl themselves into the dark, unforgiving waters.
Your job is to guide the passengers from the rapidly disappearing decks of the Lucky Star… through the shark infested waters… to the safety of Wee Bertha.

Update 2018: Steve Allen's book is now a major motion movie; The Meg starring Jason Statham.
A school of sharks in a feeding frenzy on the beach at our five hut Robinson Crusoe resort. Our Polynesian cook/boat pilot/concierge had just thrown out a bunch of fish scraps leftover from lunch. The docile Black-Tipped Sharks are not dangerous to humans but, as he said laughing in his best English “don’t feed them by hand”. His dog just loved charging through them and chasing them off.

I think that AI image generation is similar in many ways to photography. The camera itself handles all the fine details, but the photographer is in charge of curating the types of images that will be created.
Ultimately, it is all about maximizing the probability that something good will be created.
This is very similar to AI image generation, in terms of the skills involved and what the human does vs. what the machine does.
You can't compare AI image generation to the process of actually making these images from scratch with 3D software or paint/pencils, where the human controls every detail.
However, I think the process really is very similar to that of photography, as I made the case for above.

late edits, my apologies. This shark died. He crossed one of the ones around it and they chomped him up to bits after dragging him helplessly around the tank for 10 minutes. Started a frenzy...the poor dear.

also as an interesting side note- the views on this picture were ASTRONOMICALLY huge one day, I traced the link back to some site for people who have cast fetishes. no seriously. I've learned about a LOT of interesting fetishes that I've NEVER even knew existed from Flickr.
