Just a regular afternoon in Seoul. I was on my way to the corner store for some late night snacks (because obviously, choco pies and banana milk are a necessity 🍫), when the sun hit just right and I noticed my shadow casting out underneath me. I stopped in my tracks and looked around me twice making sure no one was around. I crouched down and crossed my arms over my head making a cat like shadow. “Arise, Shadow Kitty! 🐈⬛💗✨” I whispered dramatically, because obviously I’m the magical girl of snacks and shadows now. The sidewalk turned into a runway of my imagination and silly shadow creations. 🐾 I made it to the shop, grabbed my usuals plus some honey butter chips (cravings, okay?? 🍯🍟), and walked back home like with my mind still full of creative imagination.🌙💖 Sometimes, the city gives you small moments of magic. You just gotta notice them… or summon them 😘
This started out as an HDR image... then added distressed jewels textured sky. But still didn't love it, so I messed around with it quite a bit before turning it into a digital painting. The sign says "The Depew Barn" It was built in 1890 and it's still in pretty good shape.

HMM!! Shadows are the weekly theme and this isn't actually an eye. It's really just my cat's toy underneath a sheet of red construction paper. But, the way the shadow came out it looks to me like an amoeba or a red eye. Look below for my other attempt at shadow creations.

There is an old cabin back here in the woods, one I hope we are able to peek at tomorrow night. But here's the rather wide path heading back to it. It's only about a mile walk, if that.

Several years ago I was lucky enough to be able to travel to China. These pics were shot on film on the Yangtze River. They were in the process of damming the river at that time. These places, where people lived and farmed for centuries, are sadly now under water.
I've added textures from Skeletal Mess (Old Testament) and French Kiss (Stone Blush).

I attended a conference at St. Bride Library in 2007. During the 2 days we had experiences with various type tools one of them was hand carving. I loved it to bits.
Now that I am revisiting the earlier stuff I made it is the perfect opportunity to rekindle my love of monumental hand carved letters.
This one shows our instructor explaining how to keep the chisel at an angle that will help to carve at an optimum depth. The desired effect is to give the letter some body: light washing and shadow creation hence contrast will be achieved in stone.
