Work progresses on the new 'super sewer' which will run parallel to The Thames for 25km from Acton to Beckton.
Life Underground (2001) is a permanent public artwork created by American sculptor Tom Otterness for the New York City Subway's 14th Street/Eighth Avenue station, which serves the A, C, E, and L trains. The installation is a series of whimsical miniature bronze sculptures depicting cartoon like characters showing people and animals in various situations, and additional abstract sculptures, which are dispersed throughout the station platforms and passageways.

This particular sculpture, at the time I photographed it, was installed on one of the streets in Brooklyn.
I am sure that this is a subject that many would never consider but with all sincerity, I am grateful for my circumstances to live where our homes have modern plumbing. Many of us take this convenience for granted and forget that so many people in the world don't have the same access. For a short time in my life, I actually worked as the receptionist for a waste treatment facility and learned a great deal about the processing and management. If you are lucky enough to live where you have access to a good sanitation system and clean drinking water take a moment today to acknowledge your good fortune.
not a supercell - but impressive
at a few locations - we had enormous water damage due to backwater from the sewer system

A build which I was originally going to save for some point in mission 10 of the 253rd, but I decided to post it now instead.
I'm really happy with how the build came out, though I'm not sure about the lighting.
Anyway, heavily inspired by Captianinfinity's Mission 11.1
C&C is appreciated and TFVAHAGD!
Descend into an underground world and discover a forgotten piece of Antwerp history! In the Middle Ages, countless Ruien, vlieten and vesten traversed the city. When these waterways lost their function as source and port, the Ruien were covered and a unique piece of heritage disappeared from the cityscape and our memory. A visit to this hidden system of corridors, with its old vaults, canals, bridges, sewers and sluices, takes you on a journey through time. During a walk through these special surroundings, you will learn about the history of De Ruien through surprising facts and anecdotes and meet its current residents. An experience not to be missed for everyone with a heart for architecture, history and the city!
While in Vienna I got down into the sewers on a tour following some of the locations used in the famous film The Third Man. This tunnel has the Wien river flowing through it; it appeared in one of the climatic scenes in the film.
For a photo story of my visit to Vienna:
This City smells of death..the criminals overflow the streets like sewer rats..
im not going to let this continue...i am vengance...this night will see blood...this night will have a story to tell...
whats my name? thats not important.
what do they called me? they call me The Black Light
To be Continued.................
Deep in the tunnels... No sunlight... above the flood line. Attempting to live forever (or at least 30-40 years )
The Sewer King, a figure both feared and revered, was a master of the underground. His throne was an elaborate contraption of rusted pipes and dripping valves. Cloaked in a garment woven from the finest sewer rats' pelts, he surveyed his realm with an air of regal detachment. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsUTs38feeM made with the grand KetsuidaFaun +En Pointe+ Danse Macabre
Spider-Man goes to investigate the rumble from the sewers, moments later he's surprised by one of his most terrorizing enemies Doctor Octopus.
I came across about 30 of these huge sewer mains all lined up in a row. Nice texture when viewed large.
