He is singing, a diana, or sung prelude, establishing the mood before the Yambú dance (a form of Cuban rumba) starts; a single couple slowly and respectfully dance within a circle created by the conga drummers, singers, waiting dancers, and spectators. Afro-Cuban ritual dances form a huge group of Cuban dances and reflect the four main groups of Africans that were transported to Cuba.

Built in 1911,Rock River Elementary served Rockford area students till 2005.Soon after, it was sold to an area congregation to become a church. That never happened and the structure and property have been vandalized so heavily, city employees were called in to clean up the property and board it up...twice. The structure which is much bigger than what is seen in this picture was in serious disrepair when closed....

Gestern Abend konnte ich auf einem Feld einen Kampf zwischen zwei Fasanenmännchen beobachten. Das war kein Schaukampf, sondern ein ernsthafter Kampf aber Blut ist nicht geflossen :-)
Yesterday evening I watched a fight between two male pheasants in a field. It wasn't a show fight, it was a serious fight, but no blood was spilled :-)
February has brought a serious cold and some strong snow storms. The fields around the city are covered with a thick snow carpet. We like to walk there looking for some new vistas and listening to the crispy snow under our feet.
