This Heron surprised me - first he ate two Common gartersnakes one after the other - and then he also ate fish
It is very difficult to take a high-quality photo in this vegetation, even with serial shooting - the focus clings to this vegetation
a wonderful table top work for too hot summer days. Take a glass board and fix a glass on it. Then you pour water or juice (no wine, you better drink ...) into the glass while doing serial shooting with the remote trigger.

eine wunderbare Heimarbeit für zu heiße Sommertage, wie gerade eben. Man nehme ein Glasbrett und fixiere ein Glas darauf. Jetzt gießt man Wasser/Saft (Wein wäre zu schade...) drauf und macht Serienaufnahmen.

There's really something quite wonderful about a Bentley - very hard to just walk past without a pause.
For the Hong Kongers out there - Yes, that's Jardine House reflected in that deep dark paintwork - seems I'm becomeing a serial shooter of car-badges and reflections in glossy paintwork.
New lens. Canon 50/1.2L - just got it today, took it out for its first walk. Love it already.
Shock, horror... my new terabyte hard disk is full! That is, I've filled it up with one trillion bytes of Cambridge images. I know I'm a serial shooter, but this really is plain ridiculous. So I've set myself a target in the coming days to try to delete half of the stuff. I know storage is now cheap, but there comes a point when one has to do a major clean. It is Spring after all (even though it doesn't feel like it here:-) It will also get me out more to shoot fresh stuff. That is the challenge!

Reed and Light Bubbles.
Well, for these photos I used my ND filters in the first place. I always wanted to make this: Shoot with a fully open lens right into the reflection of the sun on the lake surface. Yesterday no cloud at all could be seen, perfect! I used a collection of (vintage) lenses and mostly the ND 64x (6 stop) filter. This way I could get rather normal shutter speeds. My cameras produce strange artifacts in the bokeh when I go beyond 1/3200s or so. I know you should turn on the mechanical shutter, but it seemed to me it's a good use for the NDs as well. As already said, the „bubbles" move fast, so serial shooting and making a lot of photos was a must. These are all variations of the same theme, obviously, but I cannot decide and show fewer pictures. If you look a bit more careful, they are actually pretty different!

The hotel we stayed at Ganapatipule was like a huge gaudy red palace, a lot like a Bollywood set, built on a grand scale and looking out to the sea. The decor was all red and gold (very daunting!) and it really was being used for a Mythological TV serial shoot.
