During the fighting near the city of Ilovaisk in August 2014, a significant number of Russian regular troops entered the sovereign territory of Ukraine. The majority of the Ukrainian group consisted of volunteer units that fought with Donetsk separatists. Many true patriots of Ukraine died.

Zoar is a village in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, that was founded by German religious separatists in 1817, and survived as a communal settlement for more than 80 years. Many of the original buildings still exist, and the village today serves both as a very walkable outdoor museum of sorts, as well as a place where people live.

Shown here is the Zoar Hotel, which was completed in 1835. President William McKinley is said to have had a favorite room at the hotel, where he enjoyed the German cuisine.

This is a face (among several millions in India alone) of a person who has been and being neglected by the society. Despite being among have not's, people like her did not take resort to terrorism or similar anti people act. These people tell volume against the opportunistic views of some so called ' intellectuals' in India and abroad who indirectly justify terrorism and terrorists citing that they are otherwise innocents but are the victims of social deprivation and inequality!!! My partisan view is that improper upbringing, irrational thinking, religious/sectarian blindness and sadistic mindset are the root cause of terrorism . Social inequality definitely contributes but cannot be the root (or only) cause of terrorism/separatism. Every govt. should turn to these people and help them live respectfully instead of tolerating/negotiating with and giving concession to the terrorists/separatists or their national and international handlers.

Many of the original buildings still exist, as does a large public garden that occupies a central area of the village. The gardens, part of which are seen here, are said to be preserved and maintained as they were in the 1800s.

Middelburg Abbey (The Abbey of our Lady) is a former Premonstratensian abbey in Middelburg, the Netherlands. At one time it was the centre of a large monastic complex.

Today parts of what survives are used for a museum and as offices. Located approximately 65 km (40 miles) west of Bergen op Zoom, Middelburg is the principal town and regional capital of Zeeland in the Netherlands.

The origins of the abbey go back to the early twelfth century or earlier. Premonstratensian canons arrived from St. Michael's Abbey, Antwerp in 1127, creating a monastery on the site of a former Carolingian stronghold. The canons established a large religious foundation, eventually incorporating two churches. The monastic foundation also held extensive lands on Walcheren (then an island) and in Zeeland.

In 1401 the abbey was brought under direct papal control. Many of the monastic buildings were destroyed in a fire in 1492. Another fire, in 1568 was focused on the two monastic churches. Today many of the surviving buildings from the monastic period (including the so-called "new church") are in the late Medieval Gothic style, and date from a rebuilding in the second part of the sixteenth century.

An important sixteenth century abbot was Nicolaas van der Borcht who in 1559 became the first bishop in the newly formed (and short-lived) Diocese of Middelburg.

Monastic life came to an end in 1574 when the Spanish defenders under Cristóbal de Mondragón capitulated to the (Protestant) Dutch separatists at the end of the two year Siege of Middelburg. While negotiating the surrender of the town William of Orange had given guarantees that the clergy would be left alone, but both the abbey and Catholicism in Middelburg were nevertheless forcibly terminated.

Mandatory turban

Amritsar (India) - Unlike Hindus for whom colors have a symbolic and religious meaning, they officially represent nothing among Sikhs. However, magenta or red are preferred for weddings, white for funerals, but also represents purity. Deep blue is the color of the warrior order of the Nihangs. Yellow (saffron or orange) also has no religious significance, but it has become the symbol of Sikh separatists.

On the other hand, for adult men, wearing a turban is an obligation. Called "pagri", it measures between 4.30 and 7 meters. It is also one of the means of immediately identifying one's membership in the community of shikhs.

Operation Bluestar

Amritsar (India) - In June 1984, the Golden Temple was the scene of a massacre, of which the Shiks were the victims. Occupied by a group of Sikh separatists under the orders of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, after the failure of negotiations with the Indian Federation, the attack was ordered by the Prime Minister of the time: Indira Gandhi.

At the end of the battle, 493 mutineers were killed, including 100 women and 75 children. To which must be added the 86 wounded who were not executed. The Indian military meanwhile, would have lost 334 men (86 dead and 248 wounded).

The Golden Temple, stained with the blood of the insurgents and desecrated by the boots of the assailants, is considered an irreparable insult by the Sikh extremists. This military attack called "Operation Blue Star", could not go unpunished according to the Sikhs. It will result on October 31 of the same year, the assassination of Indira Gandhi, killed by her two bodyguards of Sikh faith.

Today, Sikhs and Hindus have buried the hatchet and avoid evoking this tragic episode in their recent history. Reason prevailed in the face of resentment. In their sacred Temple, the Sikhs once again welcome all visitors, offering room and board to those who request it. Without distinction of social status or religion. A principle to ponder.

The flag's dimensions are not fixed and may vary from 9 cm × 14 cm (3.5 in × 5.5 in) to 8 m × 12 m (26 ft × 39 ft). The flag is not only used by cultural associations or separatists but by other people. For years, the authorities considered the flag as a separatist symbol, but the attitude has now changed and the flag, no longer having any political connotations, can appear everywhere, even on public buildings, along with the other official flags. It is widely used throughout Brittany and can even be seen on town halls in the region. Because of the absence of legislation concerning regional flags in France the flag is also flown on sailboats and fishing boats. The design of the ermine spots can vary, but the version most frequently seen is shown above.

The flag was created in 1923 by Morvan Marchal. He used as his inspiration the flags of the United States and Greece as these two countries were seen at that time as the respective symbols of liberty and democracy.

The nine horizontal stripes represent the traditional dioceses of Brittany into which the duchy was divided historically. The five black stripes represent the French or Gallo speaking dioceses of Dol, Nantes, Rennes, Saint-Malo and Saint-Brieuc; the four white stripes represent the Breton speaking dioceses of Trégor, Léon, Cornouaille and Vannes. The ermine canton recalls the ducal arms of Brittany.

The flag first came to notice by a wider public at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris in 1925. It was adopted by various cultural and nationalist groups through the 1920s and 1930s. However, its association with nationalist and separatist groups during the Second World War brought suspicions of collaboration on the flag. A revival of interest in the flag took place in the 1960s. Since then, it has lost an association with separatism in the mind of the public and become a widely accepted symbol for all Brittany and Bretons. The older ermine field flag and black cross continue to be rarely used, though, by some individuals and groups.

In blazons, the flag is Sable, four bars Argent; the canton ermine. Traditionally, coats of arms could be displayed as a rectangular banner, as well as on a shield.

Story:

Riding the wave of victory coming from the North, the Nationalists forces were joined by Stratus and his Nimbus commandos, planning to lay siege to even more fortifications. The separatists forces broke off and led an offensive on the south eastern captured cities led by a few Nimbus Commandos. While the droids boarded ships to be moved East, Stratus and the Nationalists started the siege on the Republic’s last foothold in the northern hemisphere, the city of Choal. The city was located on a cliff overlooking multiple Jabiimi fortifications in the north. Meaning, the Republic would never expect a seige from behind their own lines. With the stealthy and strategic talent of Stratus and his commandos, the Nationalists were quickly led into the heart of the city. The clones, unprepared and comfortable were kicked from their fire pits and barracks and sent east towards their other fortifications. While the Jabiimi quickly reclaimed their planet’s Northern Hemisphere.

"Oh, mate. If only you would still be alive"

As the separatist droids approaches, the 212 Clone Trooper knows he will have a very hard time surviving alone.

Story:

The campaign had been reduced to trench warfare. Both sides were losing troops with minimal advances. But reports of the legendary leader, Stratus, had inspired the Nationalists. The Jabiimi started to whittle away at Republic emplacements on the frontline.

The fall of Shelter Base and parts of the frontline required the Republic’s planetary blockade to dissolve and distribute forces to the ground. This allowed an opening for the waiting Separatist reinforcements to rush to the Nationalist’s aid. B1 and super battle droids we’re deployed to assist the frontline. With new reinforcements and more supplies, the Nationalists continued their push south to reclaim their previous positions. The Nationalist forces caught the Republic on retreat and reclaimed 11 of the 12 positions taken in the initial campaign. The incoming Venators barely replaced the casualties taken on that retreat. 43 rotations into the planet wide ground battle, the Republic was now outnumbered by combined Jabiimi and Separatist forces and flanked on almost all sides.

After I entered the mine, the door closed shut. I looked around to see that I was surrounded by a squad of separatists. The squad started to fire at me. I dodged the blasts easily. Then I heard a rumble. The bombers were blasting the mine open. I thought to myself: "I have to get out of here". More and more droids came. I had to move.

Scouting on Aurea wasn't exactly the kind of action I was looking for when getting into this war. I've spent most days hunting down the monstrous animals that live amongst the tropical terrain, and a few Separatists who seem to only stop here by accident. The Jedi who's governing my squadron and I goes by the name Min Char and he's been accompanying us on our "mystical journeys" ... huh. or at least thats what we call them.

I cant help but notice though that the past few days Ive felt off. Like I can't trust the leader who's been here so long with us. I'm not sure, it could just be that theres been talk of big plans happening today. Speaking of which, I have a meeting to attend.

I made my way to Glaurea Passage. I was rendezvousing with Min and another member of my squad (Davey) there to discuss further plans for defending the temple from outside forces. These artisans did not need there glass sculptures messed with as many of them have been slowly worked on for generations.

I got to the Pass first, with Min arriving not long after. I began to walk up the stairs discussing the days events with Min as my Holo-Projector vibrated.

I answered.

"Ahhhh yes, the time has come. Execute Order Sixty-Six"

Hello again! Here is my application for @thedarktimesgroup. This one took a while to finish as I didn't have any source material to get inspired by. I hope it came out well and you all enjoy the little story with it. Thanks for checking it out!

Search and Destroy

Prologue:

On the outskirts of Geonosis, lies an automated facility, surveilling communications between the Geonosian and Separatist army. A breakthrough in Republic engineering, allowed small cylindrical antenna units, to transmit the frequency just far enough off planet. While the planet may be described as a desolate wasteland, there are a few water sources; the ebon sea, along with fossilized reserves of water stored underground, both providing sufficient supply for a hybrid power system, electrical and hydro. This method of powering the bunker, and its placement beneath the rocky caverns, kept the operation out of sight. However, operating under the guise of a remote radio tower, a certain chancellor had far more sinister activity ongoing in this facility. An empty, barebones bunker, requiring little to no maintenance, served as the perfect hub for Palpatine to set up shop, and touch base with his Separatist cronies, amongst other things… The notion that Palpatine would allow such a facility to remain standing, with tensions rising between the Republic and CIS, escalating to the battle of Geonosis, would be utterly fanciful. Favours and chits were called in, and the GAR passed on orders to destroy the facility, to one lone ARC-Protector, known as ‘Splinter’.

So the GAR wants us to put on a little show for them huh? And solo no less, just my style. An infiltration exercise. Search, and destroy. Though despite having a roadmap laid out to reach our remote facility, i’ve been tasked to make way during the peak of the sandstorm. Lucky me. The frontline infantrymen don’t sound like they have it so bad now, but i digress.

Separatist droids have taken the 212th by surprise!

Mission Log:/ We woke up to blinking red lights on the station, something about Separatists were attacking Tipoca City? We had orders to take up arms and head down to the ocean floor to help the 212th take out the forces who were destroying the support structures of Kamino and Tapico City…

Well guys I’m back with a new build I’ve had built for awhile now and I’m happy to see how it turned out! I was heavily inspired by @legiondude with his support structure for his mission build! Let know what y’all think in the comments below and have a good one :D

This photograph shows a rally on Independence Square (the Maidan) in Kyiv on December 1, 2013.

That day, approximately 800,000 people gathered in the center of Kyiv. Of course, I was there too, along with my friends. The gray tones of this photograph, taken with a low-budget mobile phone, convey the atmosphere of those days well and stand in sharp contrast to the orange colors of the revolution nine years earlier (which felt more like a performance).

A few days before that, students who had come out to protest President Yanukovych’s refusal to sign the Association Agreement with the EU were demonstratively and brutally beaten on the Maidan. He refused to do so at the very last moment, while attending the summit in Vilnius.

On November 30 at 4 a.m., police officers from the special unit ‘Berkut’ (which was supposedly created to combat organized crime but in reality consisted of outright sadists trained to beat people in prisons and used by the authorities for forceful actions against demonstrators as well as for all kinds of dirty work) waited until only a small number of students remained on the square—and then carried out a bloody massacre.

The students were chased all along Khreshchatyk; when caught, they were beaten with batons, kicked, and assaulted in other ways. In total, that bloody morning left 94 people injured—unarmed young men and women who had simply decided to express their disagreement with the reversal of their country’s foreign policy course.

So this time the protesters were no longer entirely peaceful either. On the very day this photograph was taken, they immediately occupied the Kyiv City Council building and turned it into the headquarters of the resistance movement (the building is located on Khreshchatyk, next to the Maidan; in fact, I heard the sound of breaking glass there, and then the corresponding announcement was made).

Closer to the evening, aggressively minded groups began gathering near the Presidential Administration building, which the authorities had заранее protected with dense lines of those same special-unit troops, equipped with shields and helmets. I went there as well, but sensing how extremely tense the atmosphere was, I decided to leave and get away from trouble—and I was right to do so, because soon another attack by the “Berkut” units on the demonstrators began, during which people were beaten even more brutally (and by then no one was distinguishing between protesters, journalists, or people who were simply passing by).

The Berkut officers beat people en masse, as they liked to do. Many victims of that crackdown ended up in hospitals; many others were thrown into prison. The official casualty figures were 112 civilians and 45 journalists.

Despite all this, attempts to intimidate the people through demonstrative brutality failed—quite the opposite. People began arriving in Kyiv from all over Ukraine and joining the ranks of the ‘Maidan protesters’; some foreign citizens joined them as well, and local Maidans sprang up in regional cities across Ukraine.

In response, the authorities shifted to tactics of abductions, torture, and the killing of activists.

I will not describe in detail the chronology of those events, which were later called the ‘Revolution of Dignity.’ There were repeated attempts to storm the protesters’ camp (the city center was effectively barricaded). There were also attempts by Yanukovych—through the mediation of American and European diplomats—to negotiate with those who presented themselves as leaders of the protest movement (in particular with former Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who now lives in his estate in the United States and whom I personally consider a scoundrel).

In the end, Yanukovych decided to flee Ukraine to Russia, after first giving the order to shoot protesters with firearms (or the order was given by one of his deputies—I do not know. The investigation into those events was later effectively buried, and the evidence destroyed).

On February 20, the bloody climax began, costing the lives of 48 protesters, with more than 80 wounded (four members of the security forces were also killed). Ultimately, Yanukovych’s regime fell—but by and large, the Maidan was defeated as well.

Why do I say that? Because its results were once again exploited by the same criminal–oligarchic groups that have controlled this country since the 1990s. Soon afterward, Petro Poroshenko became president of Ukraine. Although he is considered a ‘pro-Western’ and ‘nationally oriented’ politician, he is in fact a classic oligarch—a person who simultaneously owns major businesses, vast wealth, media outlets, has his own political force, and wields political power.

Those political movements that emerged from ordinary activists (the so-called ‘Maidan parties’) failed to receive significant support in the parliamentary elections. Society decided that the ‘smart and wealthy uncles’ knew better what should be done with the country—especially since they were shown on all national television channels (almost all media in the country at the time were oligarch-owned), on the radio, and on ubiquitous billboards.

Thus, although Ukraine formally maintained a pro-European course, in general it remained the same corrupt, clan-based oligarchic state, with weak civic institutions, a pitifully small middle class and intelligentsia, an impoverished majority of the population, and a handful of super-rich individuals. Perhaps this picture is exaggerated, but if one were to describe our reality briefly, this is what it was like (and what it is today as well, with certain adjustments—for the worse…).

The thing is that Ukraine did not gain independence in 1991 as a result of a national liberation struggle or any kind of mass popular movement—no. It was proclaimed by the republican Communist Party nomenklatura. These functionaries had grown tired of imitating the construction of communism; they understood the dead-end nature of this path and saw how far ahead the West had gone in terms of socio-economic prosperity. They wanted to become millionaires and billionaires and to openly enjoy life ‘to the fullest.’ Essentially, that is what happened.

The national-patriotic forces, led by dissidents Vyacheslav Chornovil (killed in 1999) and Levko Lukyanenko (each of whom had spent nearly a quarter of a century in Soviet prisons), did not receive significant public support. Their maximum result was only about 30% of the total composition of parliament, and it declined further afterward.

The nomenklatura remained in power, while leaders of organized criminal groups began breathing down their necks. The ‘carving up’ of public property began—property accumulated through the hard labor of previous generations of Ukrainians, residents of the Ukrainian Soviet Republic.

It was precisely during the presidency of Leonid Kuchma that the architecture of the clan–oligarchic model of governing Ukraine took shape, with Kuchma as its architect. Political power and state property, super-profitable enterprises, and entire sectors of the economy were distributed among a limited circle of individuals who became multi-billionaires almost overnight (and remain so to this day). Kuchma’s son-in-law, Viktor Pinchuk, is one of them. Rinat Akhmetov (a man of Tatar origin from the Donbas, with an openly criminal past), Firtash, Kolomoisky, Poroshenko, and others—they are the real masters of Ukraine, even though many of them do not live here now. In recent years, however, they have been forced to ‘share’ Ukraine’s agricultural land and the remnants of its natural resources with transnational corporations.

Under such an architecture, state institutions were from the outset created as corrupt structures designed to serve oligarchic interests. Legislation was written exclusively in the interests of clan–oligarchic groups (and the oligarchs themselves held seats in parliament and had their own political parties). These oligarchs, being boundlessly greedy, fought—and continue to fight—among themselves, forming situational coalitions and manipulating the population through the media. In fact, it was precisely this that led Ukraine to ideological split and war, to its catastrophic condition today, and to the brink of final destruction.

I would like to separately note the role of the Soros Foundation, the BlackRock corporation, and other similar organizations, which through their numerous grants effectively created a fake civil society in Ukraine—opinion leaders who supposedly fought corruption, promoted various gender issues, the LGBT agenda, and so on, while receiving generous funding. In reality, through their grant programs, they began turning Ukraine into an ‘anti-Russia,’ and over 30 years they succeeded in this. Instead of investing in real reforms and the genuine European integration of Ukrainians, people were morally prepared for war all this time. And this is what we now have. This is, of course, my subjective opinion.

For me it is obvious that the West does not see Ukraine as part of itself. We are not trusted; no one wants to invest in us. We are seen merely as a buffer zone between Russia and the West—nothing more. Our able-bodied and reproductive youth—they have already taken them in. Those who remain living in Ukraine—the elderly, veterans and disabled people of the war, the security forces and the bureaucratic apparatus of Ukraine—are of no interest to them whatsoever.

You will see: a day after the war ends, EU countries will reintroduce a visa regime with Ukraine, or even fence themselves off entirely, declaring our state undemocratic (and having formal grounds to do so). We have been turned into a ‘steel porcupine’—a punching bag meant to be beaten. What I am writing here may seem unpleasant to you, but I predict that in the foreseeable future such reproaches from Ukrainians may become a mass phenomenon, and perhaps even the official position of the Ukrainian state (if it survives at all). And you will have to understand where these reproaches come from and why.

Back in 2014, immediately after Yanukovych fled, Putin sent his troops into the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, annexing it virtually without a fight (Kyiv simply never gave the army an order to open fire). Then detachments led by Russian KGB/FSB officer Igor Girkin began a separatist movement in the Donbas, which soon escalated into what was called the ATO (formally an ‘anti-terrorist operation,’ but in reality an undeclared war between the Russian and Ukrainian armies in a limited region).

In 2019, a random person from a humorous TV show became president of Ukraine (a man who had previously played the role of an ordinary Ukrainian schoolteacher who accidentally became president in a television series!). The people decided that electing a comedian-actor with no political experience whatsoever was better than voting for the tiresome pseudo-patriotic oligarch Poroshenko. In the subsequent parliamentary elections, people blindly voted for the same kind of ‘people from nowhere,’ supporting President Zelensky’s party 'Servant of the People', which had been created just a few months earlier. And this party unexpectedly won a constitutional majority!

Instead of crafty oligarchs and politicians fed by them, the parliament was filled—once again—with random people: wedding photographers, blowjob instructors (I’m not joking), supermarket beer thieves, and so on. People believed that this rabble would be able to help Ukraine climb out of the swamp... It didn’t work.

The country sank into incompetence, new corruption scandals, attempts at redistributing property (so-called raiding), and more. Defense contracts were sabotaged; people were leaving the army en masse; many were leaving the country altogether. By February 24, Ukraine approached the invasion in a fairly weakened defensive state. This allowed the Russians, in just a few days, to advance to the outskirts of Kyiv and seize vast territories in the south of the country.

The authorities either fled or switched sides to the Russians. Then, once again, there was grassroots self-organization and a volunteer movement, which made it possible to repel the enemy for a short time, push it back from the capital, and force it into retreat. And then—there was yet another betrayal by the pseudo-elites, a refusal to conclude peace agreements in Istanbul, and afterward everything slid back again.

Legal lawlessness, authoritarianism, looting, corruption, and the comprador nature of the pseudo-elites against the backdrop of a losing war—that is what we have now.

This turned into a very long text. Perhaps it is time to put a full stop here—or at least an ellipsis…

I believe this is a shot of Meech Lake in Gatineau Park, Québec. We hiked a trail to a scenic lookout that was above the lake, however the view from that highest point was disappointing. (See here.) Meech Lake was poingnant at the time due the failed Meech Lake Accord spearheaded by Prime Minister Brian Mulrooney. The failure of this agreement between the provinces and the federal government led to in increase in separatist sentiment in the Province of Québec. Separatism culminated to the 1995 "Oui ou Non" referendum. The Non side triumphed with only 50.58% of the vote, just barely keeping the country unified. MIGUEL ÁNGEL BLANCO GARRIDO

(Ermua, Spain, 13 May 1968 – Lasarte-Oria, Spain, 13 July 1997)

Miguel Ángel Blanco Garrido was a Spanish politician and municipal councillor of the People’s Party (Partido Popular, PP) in the town of Ermua, in the Basque Country. He was born on 13 May 1968 into a humble family of Galician origin. His father, Miguel Blanco, was a construction worker, and his mother, Consuelo Garrido, a housewife. He had one sister, María del Mar.

He studied Economics at the University of the Basque Country (Sarriko campus). Before entering politics, he worked alongside his father in construction and later as a consultant. He led a simple life, was passionate about music—he played the drums in local bands—and enjoyed sports and community life.

In 1995, he joined the People’s Party and was elected town councillor in Ermua, carrying out his public service during a period of intense political and social tension in the Basque Country due to terrorism.

On 10 July 1997, Miguel Ángel Blanco was kidnapped by the armed separatist group ETA while on his way to work. His captors issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Spanish government, demanding the transfer of ETA prisoners to prisons in the Basque Country and Navarre. His abduction provoked massive demonstrations across Spain calling for his release.

When the ultimatum expired, on 12 July 1997, he was shot twice in the back of the head and left gravely wounded with his hands tied near San Sebastián. He was found shortly afterward and taken to hospital, where he died in the early hours of 13 July 1997, at the age of 29.

His murder caused a profound national shock and gave rise to a powerful civic reaction against terrorism, known as the “Spirit of Ermua,” becoming a turning point in Spanish society’s rejection of political violence.

I publish these characters to remind people, especially the young, that these men and women gave their lives for justice, for human rights, for the protection of our communities and our planet. Their sacrifice is a lesson and a warning: hatred and injustice must never have the last word.

"Our objective was to take back a captured Republic outpost. The importance of the outpost was unknown to us neither was the purpose of the bulky EMP Device command had us lugging around with us. The long trek to the base was strangely quiet and featured very little Separatist resistance. Upon Entering the system of trenches which wove around the base I ordered Rook and shiny who went by the name Hound to hang back with the EMP while the rest of the Squad made sure the path ahead was clear. We reached the north wall of the outpost without much trouble, signs of a recent battle lay everywhere discarded supplies, weapons, armor, along with the broken and twisted bodies of battle droids. After giving Rook the all clear I ordered Lucky to tell the men to fig into a shallow ditch which had been fortified with a turret and a few pulse mines. Once Lucky and Hound had caught up I ordered the men to attach grappling hooks, it was time to begin our assault... "

Not sure if I like how this one came out : /

Squad pic will probably be up towards the end of mission 6 since I am waiting on several BL orders to replace DBG legs with SP legs.

Anyway, C&C is appreciated, have a great day and thanks for viewing!

You never know how strong you are, until being strong is your only choice.

In early January, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov tells U.S. officials that Russia has no plans to invade Ukraine.

February 10, 2022 – Russia and Belarus begin joint military exercises with 30,000 Russian troops stationed in the country along Ukraine’s northern border.

In mid-February, the fighting escalates between Russian-backed separatists and Ukrainian forces in the two eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk. Separatist leaders call for evacuations. "In our view, what is happening in Donbas today is, in fact, genocide," says Putin on Feb. 15 — a false claim that Western officials say Putin is using to create a pretext for an invasion.

Russia continues to build its troop presence on its border with Ukraine. Estimates range from 150,000 to 190,000 troops. U.S. officials, including Biden, increase the urgency of their warnings, saying that Russia has decided to invade.

On Feb. 21, Putin formally recognizes the independence of the Donetsk People's Republic and the Luhansk People's Republic — including territory claimed by separatists but controlled by the Ukrainian armed forces. He orders Russia's military to deploy troops there under the guise of a "peacekeeping" mission.

February 24, 2022 - Russia launched a full-scale military invasion into Ukraine — the largest such military operation in Europe since the end of World War II. Missiles rain down on Ukraine's cities and columns of Russian troops from neighboring Belarus and from Russian-held Crimea reportedly begin streaming into the countryside. Ukrainian forces reportedly try to hold back the Russian advance on several fronts.

Since then:

Cities have been flattened.

24 hospitals including a Maternity ward and a children’s hospital have been bombed, as well as residential areas, schools, food warehouses and innocent civilians.

More than 2.7 million Ukrainians as of today have become refugees in neighboring countries, who have opened their borders and received them with open arms. More are expected to flee as the war rages on.

Many people, mostly women with young children have had to walk for days in the bitter cold without food or water trying to escape the war, with their lives packed in a small suitcase and afraid to be killed before reaching the border.

Many others have stayed behind, staying at homes or shelters without power, water or food, causing the worst humanitarian crisis in modern history.

Trenches are being dug to bury the dead in mass graves, bringing back memories of WWII

People are dying from the cold, hunger and thirst including children, entire families are being executed by Russian troops without mercy.

The other face:

People in Russia have been brainwashed. They do not believe the atrocities committed by the Russian troops carrying out orders of their leaders.

Those who know the truth because they have access to internet and other sources and dare to protest are beaten and arrested, and sentenced to 15 years in jail, children are sentenced to 3.

Innocent boys and men gone to war, leaving their mothers, wives and children, families behind thinking they were going to a military exercise. More than 5000 Russian soldiers will not return home.

Mission 2.1: Mission Log/ After our skirmish on Rhen Var with the Acolyte they ended up getting away with the data that we so desperately needed... As soon as we got off planet we receive from on coms from Jester he’s crackles over the com “Alright boys we’ve got a new mission to land on Dantooine and investigate the planet for any separatist movement!” This planet was very wild from the trees, to the savanna’s as well as the architecture you would think a planet would look inhospitable but no there was wild-life and tons of open space perfect for Seps to hide... Jester told us to get ready to prep to land on this wild planet and that we did and started patrolling the unknown territory...

We were succesful in fending off the Droids on Christophsis, but not without a cost. We lost one man and two more got injured. They gave us replacements from the Third Regiment to fill in the missing manpower needed for our next mission.

The next mission was on Teth. We have to aid General Skywalker and the 501st Legion in the rescue of a relative of Jabba The Hutt who got kidnapped by Separatist Forces and who are holding him in a monastery. Our part in the rescue mission was to disable a large Ion canon that the Separatists had placed on a second monastery not far away from the one the Hutt is kept in.

We have to make sure the Ion canon gets destroyed before General Skywalker and his troops arrive or there mission will be short lived!

The monastery is located on a large rock formation above the clouds and only accessibly via air. We choose to use high altitude jetpacks to get to the monastery.

VICTORY!

We were able to destroy the Ion Canon! The 501st is clear to enter the planet surface. The enemy didn’t expect our attack and didn’t know where to shoot first. We managed to catch them by surprise by flying up the mountain on the south-west corner. First we had to take down the turbo lasers and droid forces stationed on the monastery’s walls before we could destroy the Ion Canon. Not an easy task, but we managed to complete our mission!

New 253rd build! I really enjoyed building this, the mountain was a pain in the ass at times but I'm glad with how it turned out! I really liked to build the monastery part though!

I hope you enjoy the MOC!

"After Raxus Prime Command was nice enough to hand me and the surviving members of my squad promotions, sadly there was a catch. I was being placed in charge of Whiskey Company's 1st platoon, normally I would welcome such a promotion with enthusiasm and a feeling of self accomplishment. But having a platoon under my command would mean having more men under my command and having more men under my command would result in more casualties and I most defiantly couldn't watch anymore of my brother fall to the Separatist war machine while under my command, but I didn't appear to have a choice..."

DESIGNATION: CC-6359

NICKNAME: Branch

RANK: ARC Sergeant

Branch and his brothers burst through the blast doors of the separatist facility, charging into a flood of every unit in the separatist war machine and more. The seppies wanted a fight, and his blood was boiling for one. against the insurmountable odds, certain doom. The brothers charged into certain doom, or what would have been for normal men, but they weren't men, they were clones, arc troopers, and most importantly, brothers. "For the republic!" charging in, the clones shot, blasted and slashed at anything between them and victory for the republic.

Shaving the Beard of the Tourist

( #Kashgar, #Xinjiang, #China. #Photograph by #GustavoThomas © 2021)

In Kashgar Old City you can find some barbershops, but the thing is beards and mustaches are prohibited for Uyghur men nowadays in China (beards represent you could be a radical, separatist, etc). Only tourists and people from other ethnic backgrounds can have the pleasure of being their beards trimmed and shaped at those barbershops.

There is a colour version of this photograph.

Hey guys, this is something I wanted to make for a very long time already. I love the Galactic Marines and Commander Bacara! Rhen Var is also one of, if not my favorite planet in Star Wars.

I'm very glad with the way the build turned out. It also is the planet that I have already made the most builds based of.

Please let me know what you think of the build!

Have a great day!

Mission log II

Malen Garek: Quickly after the execution of Order 66, the Republic was reorganized into the Galactic Empire. With the new regime came new orders. The old Republic is gone, and the Empire wants the Galaxy to know this. Even though Palpatine claims the war is over, we are still fighting the separatists or what remains of them... On the Outer Rim Planet of Kaller broke a local rebellion out to oppose the new Empire, what surprised me the most was that under the Confederate remnant were not only Speratists but also Clone deserters and ex republic loyalists.

Never the less the squad I was a part of had orders to raid a local village. Governor Drash suspects a hidden weapon depo inside the village, but we found nothing, and a lot of Confederate Remnant rebels escaped. But they can't escape our blockade with the Gallant and two Venator Class escort Star Destroyers in orbit.

So we thought...

Yeah, I'm back into 253rd! I've always wanted to build this planet from the firts Clone Wars cartoon. These Greek-like buildings always inspired me.

I know, posing on this build lacks as heck (same on my Jakku, meh), but time is something I have not. :/ Sun is shining, you want to go for a beer with friends but no, teachers want 45758 tests at once. Screw it.

Okay, I hope you enjoy this one, haha. I still have something more to post. ;)

"We need to get down ASAP! Secure the perimeter and get all wounded out there! And try to find the doctor, we can only hope she is not injured too severely and can take care of the patients''.

"Yes sir!!!!"

You could hear the roar of the separatist gunships getting louder and louder the closer we get to the platform.

After we assisted our fellow brothers to disable Munificent-class Frigates above Muunilinst, we rushed to the crystal planet of Christophsis to help Senator Bail Organa. We are ordered with manning the barricades at Organa’s command post and fend off the massive droid army that is coming our way.

Upon arrival at the command station, we were greeted by a handful of Christophsian soldiers dressed in faded blue uniforms who will help us to fend off the Clanckers. There was still some time left to prepare for their attack. We planted some mines on the main road to the command station to slow the droid army down. A tactic the Christophsian soldiers and clone forces had already used on multiple occasions in this battle.

After we put all of the mines in place, we couldn’t really do anything else but wait. Suddenly we heard a zooming noice in the distance. Shortwire looked through his binoculars and saw some STAP Speeders approaching. The Clanckers sent their first wave of troops. Not really a challange, more an intimidation tactic. We made quick work of those STAPs. Not long after, we started to hear the sound of metal footsteps marching towards us in big numbers. Not knowing what would come for us. The real fight was about to begin!

Hey guys, here is my latest build for the 253rd! It has been in the works for quite a while and I finally managed to get it done :D I hope you enjoy it!

DESIGNATION: Protector-018

NICKNAME: Galaar

RANK: ARC Captain Grade 1

UNIT: Vornskr, First Regiment, "Bralor's First", 253rd Elite Clone Legion

"The flak from the monasteries guns was intense, explosions rocking the gunship as it flew through Teth's hazy sky. Bralor's Mandalorian scouts had been right, any assault made by General Skywalker on the Separatist held Temple a few klicks west would be all but impossible as long as these guns were operational. Unable to land in the monasteries courtyard or conduct a proper air assault the gunship pilots had been instructed to fly past the structure and land in the jungle at it's base, where the clones of the 253rd Legion would be able to stage and prepare for the next phase of the operation outside the range of the enemy guns.

Stepping out of the LAATi and into the gloomy jungle Galaar peered up at the monaster. It sat atop a massive mountain of stone, it's walls supplemented by a several kilometer tall sheer rock face, a dauting climb for the troopers who had been unable to procure jetpacks. Galaar could already make out tiny white dots moving up the cliff face, the first wave had already begun their ascent. Checking the locks on his jetpack, Galaar began to lead his squad to the base of the cliff, motioning for them to extend their packs wings and ignite their thruster the moment they cleared the canopy. Vornskr shot up the side of the cliff, flying past squads of troopers as the struggled to make their way from outcrop to outcrop using ascension cables. Galaar made it to the top of the monasteries wall right as the first squads using ascension cables were scrambling over the side and engaging the defending B1 battle droids. Swooping past them, Galaar fired at the droids from above, destroying several and giving the troopers enough cover so that they could establish a footing and help their brothers over the wall. So far everything was going to plan, the 253rd had established a footing at the monastery and soon would have in under their control. There was only one thing left to do, silence that kriffing ion cannon so that General Skywalker could begin his assault."

---------------------------

Winter break and finally some time to build. I'm quite happy with how this came out and I just want to should out all the 253rd group members who helped inspire this build. I'm a little out of practice with the log, but I figured it would be best to make an attempt rather than not include one. I've got two weeks until school starts up so I'm hoping I'll be able to get at least another build up, most likely something for WiD. Anyway thanks for stopping by and merry Christmas!

Many of the trishaw drivers are visibly handicapped ex-servicemen from Sri Lanka's Tamil Tiger war.

After three decades of conflict, Sri Lanka’s government defeated the ethnic separatist insurgent group Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, popularly known as the Tamil Tigers, in May 2009.

The violence and brutality employed by both sides in the final years of the conflict horrified the global community, especially when Sri Lanka credited its callousness to civilian casualties as a key to its success.
