Macro Mondays: High Key
N Seoul Tower, Seoul, South Korea.
On holidays with family, including Grandchildren, aged 3, 5 & 7 in South Korea so I'm a bit slow with Flickr.

"Seoul has selected the imaginary creature ``Haechi'' as the symbolic icon of the city. Haechi, generally known as Haetae, is a lion-like horned creature that often appears in myths as a guardian against fire and disasters."
A broad panorama of northern Seoul captured from the observation deck of the N Seoul Tower on Mount Namsan. The view extends across the central northern area of the city, including the districts of Jung-gu and Euljiro, where historical neighborhoods and modern developments coexist. In the foreground appear notable buildings such as The Ambassador Seoul – A Pullman Hotel, the Stayrak Hotel, Paradise Building, and NUZZON. A portion of the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) roof is also visible between nearby high-rises, indicating the proximity to the Dongdaemun district.
Farther north, the dense urban layout transitions into the older neighborhoods of Jongno-gu, continuing toward the horizon. The backdrop is defined by the peaks of Inwangsan and Bugaksan, part of the Bukhansan mountain range, forming a natural boundary behind the city. The scene highlights the contrast between Seoul’s continuous urban structure and the surrounding mountainous terrain.
This panoramic image was created by stitching together five individual shots.
On my second night here in Seoul I took a trip up to Seoul tower on Mt Namsan to check out the panoramic views of the city but unfortunately everything was blanketed in thick smog which reduced the visibility down, to what felt like a mere few meters.
This afternoon while returning to my hotel room from the office I noticed that the afternoon sky looked peculiarly blueish and realised that the the air may be starting to clear a little.
Earlier in the day I had been told about a good hamburger bar which closed at 9pm. Knowing that sunset was at 8pm I knew things would be tight but with the sky continuing to clear I thought I'd risk it so I grabbed my camera, 20,000 won for my burger (as incentive to be quick) and set out again for Seoul Tower.
Things were definitely clearer but unfortunately there was still a lot of smog, which is a shame really because the mountains flanking the city really are rather impressive. None-the-less, I managed a shot of this terrific city AND made it to my burger bar at 8:55pm ;)
View large and, as always, thanks for looking.
Well, we don't have Autumn or the four seasons here in Singapore so this one was taken a while back while I was in Seoul, South Korea.
Was heading up the short, inclined road towards Seoul Tower when I spotted this sole (no pun intended!) maple leaf lying on the tarmac road. The color of the leaf does stand out pretty well against the black, dull and rough road.

The N Seoul Tower has become a romantic sanctuary for couples who want to declare their eternal love.
Just like Pont de l'Archevêché in Paris, the tower's gates are filled with thousands of padlocks of every shape and color signed with the names of lovers.
Unlike many other cities, Seoul supports this custom: there is nothing more beautiful than encouraging love.
