Wiki - The Arctic Cathedral, formally known as Tromsdalen Church or Tromsøysund Church (Norwegian: Tromsdalen kirke or Tromsøysund kirke), is a church in the city of Tromsø in Troms county, Norway. The church is commonly nicknamed the Ishavskatedralen, literally "The Cathedral of the Arctic Sea" or "Arctic Cathedral". The church was built in 1965 in the Tromsdalen valley and it is a parish church and not, in fact, a cathedral as it is commonly called. The church is part of the Tromsøysund parish in the Tromsø arch-deanery in the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland.
The church was designed by the architect Jan Inge Hovig and is built mainly of concrete. The main contractor for the construction was Ing. F. Selmer A/S Tromsø.[3] Because of the church's distinct look and situation, it has often been called "the opera house of Norway", likening it to the famous Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia.

"By far the largest painting I've done, the Rockabilly Highway Mural is located on the exterior wall at 124 West Court Avenue and Second Street in downtown Selmer, TN (viewable from Highway 45 south) and is 20-feet high by 120-feet long. This public art landmark was created in conjunction with the naming of the Rockabilly Highway. It was designed and completed in about 5 months from February-June 2009. The greatest challenges were the elements and having to constantly be aware of proportions. The subjects featured on the wall are Nashville-based Rockabilly group Phil Hummer & The White Falcons" ~ Brian Tull (Artist)

Image was taken during my trek to photograph all 95 county courthouses across my home state of Tennessee...now revisiting in order that the courthouses were photographed!
Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D7200 and combined with Photomatix Pro to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6.

Attentive viewers of my photostream may remember m photo of this trailer from last February. Back then, the graffiti just said "HELL IS HOT". Since then, someone has added "BEER IS COLD!" to the other side. I think it's funny that the "HOT" is in red and the "COLD" is in blue.
This trailer is located on the side of Highway 64 between Selmer and Adamsville, Tennessee.
Early in the morning after last nights rain, it was very foggy, and I was able to take the Image with the 4 horses grazing in front of the Schlernmassiv.

The Birte Selmer, a bulk ship registered in Majuro (where is that I hear you say) taking on a cargo of grain like product (perhaps chick peas or soya bean for instance) at the former bulk sugar terminal at suburban Colmslie on the Brisbane River, Queensland. In the background can be seen the two massive Gateway (or more correctly Sir Leo Hielscher) Bridges. You may notice that even though this location is a fair way up the river from the mouth, there is a small beach which is adjacent to a large park. There are several of these "beaches" on either side of the river along this reach but not used for swimming as such. The river is far cleaner these days but it does harbour rather nasty bull sharks which tend to be reasonably aggressive with big teeth!
The ship is loading by its own cranes rather than the conveyor/crane system which was designed for raw sugar and partly dismantled I believe. Imagine evacuating on that life boat at the stern of the ship!!
Now...where is Majuro? Well, I can tell you that it's on a tiny atoll like island in the Marshall Islands in the Pacific....definitely a place and flag of convenience. So firstly, a little bit about Majuro then after that, a bit about the ship.
Majuro (/ˈmædʒəroʊ/; Marshallese: Mājro [mʲæzʲ(e)rˠo] is the capital and largest city of the Marshall Islands. It is also a large coral atoll of 64 islands in the Pacific Ocean. It forms a legislative district of the Ratak (Sunrise) Chain of the Marshall Islands. The atoll has a land area of 9.7 square kilometres (3.7 sq mi) and encloses a lagoon of 295 square kilometres (114 sq mi). As with other atolls in the Marshall Islands, Majuro consists of narrow land masses. It has a tropical trade wind climate, with an average temperature of 27 °C (81 °F). You can read more on Wikipedia. It may be a beautiful place but it is definitely no ship base as such!
Now the ship!
The Birte Selmer was built in 2011 as a bulk ship and is registered in the Marshall Islands (see above). It arrived in Brisbane on 27 January 2021.

My mom played this wood Selmer clarinet in school in the 1950's and early 1960's. I played it in school in the 1980's, and my daughter played it in the early 2010's. It has played a lot of music!

Two Nikon SB900 speedlights were used, both camera left. One was bare and pointed at the saxophone; the other was focused on the hand, with a snoot and red Rogue gel (for added texture when converted to monochrome). Both flashes were triggered by three PocketWizard Plus X's.
