A baba is doing austerities. He has been sitting in the same circle of fire for a month, the scorching himalayan sun beating on him day after day. Yogis ponder the meaning of life as dead bodies rot in The Ganges. Ether sticks to their mortal remains….The temperature is a boiling 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

It is just another day. The people of the land perform asanas (physical postures) and kriyas (acts of internal purification of organs). Children play in the water. Gurus give satsang (lectures), while the elephants give their blessings knowing the world was made too small for them.

And then, as the sacred India dives deeper and deeper into the recesses of the mind, it forces all to realize that there is nothing: this is the end!?!…The world of manifestations is just an illusion.

A visual meditation that is thought provoking and compelling! Gregory James Rhem, HBO.

Long before the birth of any medical science, our Rishis knew that our human body consists of 5 layers called Koshas ranging from the dense physical body to the more subtle levels of emotions, mind and spirit……

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

These five sheaths are independent of Atman [ the immortal soul ] within the body.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Hindu temples are constructed to represent five Koshas with the place we place deity is called Garbha Graha. .

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

That is the reason why we have many circles around the temple until we reach the Sanctum.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Hindu belief is that the body acts as a temple for the soul. Within that soul resides the Supreme Being…………..that soul is immortal and we call that soul ATMAN which is indeed GOD.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

We are the only people in the world, who has such elaborate break down body and mind, long before the birth of Psychology.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Existence of Koshas make us to do everything to maintain all the FIVE KOSHAS which ultimately lead to REALIZE the immortal soul within which we call ATMAN.

This would include purity via food consumption, personal hygiene, and mental processes. Furthermore, an external, manifest temple helps to keep the internal, intangible temple pure by offering ample opportunity for physical service.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

According to the Kosha system in Yogic philosophy, the nature of being human encompasses physical and psychological aspects that function as one holistic system.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The Kosha system refers to these different aspects as layers of subjective experience.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Layers range from the dense physical body to the more subtle levels of emotions, mind and spirit. Psychology refers to the emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of our being.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Together, all aspects make up our subjective experience of being alive.[

The five sheaths (pancha-kosas) are alluded to in the fourteen verse of the Atmabodha. From gross to fine they are:

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

1. Annamaya Kosha – food sheath

2. Pranamaya Kosha – air sheath

3. Manomaya Kosha – mind sheath

4. Vijnanamaya Kosha – wisdom sheath

5. Anandamaya Kosha – bliss sheath

According to Vedanta the wise man should discriminate between the self and the koshas, which are non-self.

the best place to meditate

"The consequences of this new awareness were soon noticed in my life. In the first place, I lost what little interest I had in my outer relationship with friends and relatives and went through my studies mechanically. I would hold an open book in front of me to satisfy my relatives that I was reading, when in reality my attention was far away from any such superficial matter. In my dealings with people I became meek and submissive. Formerly if I was given more work than other boys I might complain, and if any boy annoyed me I would retaliate. None of them would dare make fun of me or take liberties with me. Now all that was changed. Whatever work was given, whatever teasing or annoyance there was, I would put up with it quietly. The former ego that resented and retaliated had disappeared. I stopped going out with friends to play games and preferred solitude. I would often sit alone, especially in a posture suitable for meditation, and become absorbed in the Self, the Spirit, the force or current which constituted me. I would continue in this despite the jeers of my elder brother who would sarcastically call me "sage" or "yogi" and advise me to retire into the jungle like the ancient Rishis."

When you meditate or contemplate a sensitive Chit may show you some presence, photos, movements and its awareness is also felt. This is not experience of pure Soul and not helpful for salvation. This is called miracles of chit. For Salvation, basic foundation is awareness of Who am I. When you say I am Suyesha(name), that is called ego. Anything experienced on foundation of Ego is not experience of Pure Soul, its simply relative and temporary. For miracles of Chit, you simply need to be knower of it and it will get dissolved away.

Only Lord Vishnu takes avatars.

An Avatar is an incarnation of God.

Whenever God come down to earth in any form then we call that an Avatar.

According to that definition, Jesus Christ can be considered as an Avatar, even though there is no mention about Jesus Christ in any of the Hindu scriptures.

Scriptures do not describe any appearance as an avatar by Brahma or Shiva.

Only Lord Vishnu takes Avatar.

I come into being from age to age."
