A Flickr friend invited me to her new group, Selfie Sunday. Frankly, self-portraits are not my favorite way to go, and I'm really not very good at them. Two good reasons to join!

In the future, I'm thinking about posting selfies in different locations with my dog. Or, with objects that tell you more about me. But, since this is my first entry, let's start with something simple. Here I am!

I was walking up Market St. when I ran into these women. I initially thought they were staging a protest or on strike. As it turned out, they were just selling selfie sticks.

This week's theme was: Y is for Yourself

I intended to so a proper self-portrait, setting up the camera on the tripod and using the timer etc, but I didn't get the opportunity, so instead have a last minute selfie.

I have nicknamed my youngest daughter, "Selfie".

Thanks for looking. I appreciate feedback!

I gotta cut this out before this becomes a habit. But I liked the way my shoulders showed up after a quick workout, what can I say?

My hotel's water had been shut off, so I was allowed to use the local Planet Fitness's showers instead. Figured I'd get a quick workout in while I was over there before showering, and then - this selfie happened. Oh well.

"Selfie" was the Word of the Year last year, and it's only gotten weirder since. Although pole mounts for cameras have been around for nearly a decade (QuickPod, anyone?), "selfie sticks" for smartphones exploded in Asia a few years ago and are now everywhere.

I'm actually not a 'selfie' kind of person, notorious for hundreds of vacation photos that rarely include people, but these Bluetooth-enhanced phone holders are a lot of fun. Here are a few shots that demonstrate how easily amused I am, and how poor a front-facing cameraman I am as well.
