Family party time!!! My birthday was on a weekday, but I wanted to have a chilled evening with the family, when everyone was available, so last night I gathered them all around! For those who don't know us well, left to right: me, JJ, Southsea Dave (my Flickr 'brother'!), Mum, Sophie, Matt and Tim.
Mum has been pretty much housebound lately, but Matt and Sophie kindly brought her over in their car.
I could have put a 'normal' group pic on (and if you want me to, please comment below!), but I thought this Photoshopped version was a bit of fun!!
I appear in every photograph I take. And no—
not because it is a selfie.
Because the images I create are a direct translation
of what lives inside me. I speak through photography.
So what happens when we take a selfie?
What are we really looking at in that moment?
And what do we truly see?
Ourselves — as we wish to be?
Or as we believe
others see us?

J’apparais dans chaque image que je prends. Et non —
pas parce que c’est un selfie.
Mais parce que les images que je crée sont une traduction directe
de ce qui vit en moi. Je parle à travers la photographie.
Alors que se passe-t-il lorsque l’on prend un selfie ?
Que regardons-nous vraiment à cet instant ?
Et que voyons-nous réellement ?
Nous-mêmes — tels que nous voudrions être ?
Ou tels que nous pensons
que les autres nous voient ?
