To the courageous women who applied for the Sony Female Alpha Creator-In-Residence grant – I applaud you. It was a hard application and one that took a lot of thought and no time for second-guessing. It was an opportunity to uncover a part of yourself and see how far you could test your limits. It was a chance to really sit down and think about who you are, where you are going and what you want in this life.
I am grateful for that opportunity. I am grateful to have learned so much about myself in those 14 days that I just worked away for over 10 hours a day writing, proofing, re-recording, shooting and just trusting that I deserved this chance. I learned that there is a community of amazing women out there who support each other in their journeys. I learned that there is a company out there who believe in ME and MY dreams. I learned to never back down from a dream and that it is NEVER too late to BE BOLD and FEARLESSLY pursue your dreams. I stand for that WHOLEHEARTEDLY. It took me the better part of 11 years to get here but I refuse to give up. There is so much in store for us if we just choose to believe in our own power. So I extend my hand out to you and ask: What is it that YOU want MOST in this world and how can we work together to get there?

How can you photograph a place that has had countless photographs taken from every angle possible? My personal answer is that you cannot. Anything you have thought of as being creative or different has most likely already been done. When I go to locations that have had so many before me I only think of one thing, "Did I execute what I wanted to portray?" If the answer is yes, then that is all I care about. That I created what I intended to. And so here is my version of Yosemite.
Inspired by someone that reminded me of the wild within me.
