Anxious to see the reborn Owens Lake, I headed up into the Inyo Mountains hoping to get a view from above with the snow-capped Sierra Nevada behind. From a high up campsite, we watched as some storms broke on both sides of the valley, snowing for a time on us. As the storm cleared the crescent moon was revealed and the dim light illuminated the valley just enough to make out the landscape. On the far side US 395 had a steady stream of travelers traversing the magical landscape. I decided to do something I very, very rarely do, and I wondered out in front of my own camera to help with the sense of scale.

try to do something new!

Challenge #21 Photograph only in the dark.

One flash using a shoot through umbrella, approx. 6 feet away, radio trigger.

Cause sometimes, you just feel tired. Feel weak. And when you feel weak, you feel like you wanna just give up. But you gotta search within you. You gotta find that inner strength, and just pull that shit out of you. And get that motivation to NOT give up and NOT be a quitter. No matter how bad you wanna just fall flat on your face and collapse.

Today I feel a whole lot better from where I've been this week. I think yesterday really helped me out after I did some self-reflection. I think the best way to put this photo is that it was a bit of a cleanse for me. I mean there were a lot of unexpected pleasure from today. When I went on my photographic journey today I never even made it to the spot I had intended to go. In fact I went back to where I shot my first photo from my 365 project and explore a bit more in that area. And man I never knew how beautiful it was. I stood in one spot and when doing a 360 I could see at least half a dozen spot I could have shot. I picked this one for no particular reason.

I feel like I've been branching out a little but, just a little, in term of my concepts, treatment, and technique. Still really iffy on colour treatment as that is not my strongest skill. But I'm still pleased with this.

Now for the unfortunate part of this. After I had packed up I was freezing to the bone cold so I went out of my way to buy a hot drink only to find the closest starbucks to be close. But on top of that I have left my lens cap sitting on one the these beautiful moss covered rocks. So I trekked all the way back up.

Shout out to my super awesome friend who happened to be working today at Starbucks and gave me a free tea though the drive though. By the time I got back there my hand we no loner in pain :)

This was my day, how way yours?

(p.s. I thought I'd add this into that flickr thing called #FlickrFriday as this theme is right up my ally once again with #IntoTheWild which by change is the title of one of my favourite songs by Lewis Watson. You should give it a listen or two.)

recently I've been analyzing too many things. Do you have days like that when you can't stop thinking of things you better not think about? Like what the future holds and other stuff.

The heat in the summer of 2023 was cruel in Japan's capital. Nevertheless, we set out to explore the city and found the reflection of the "Tokyo Station" building in the golden light of the later afternoon. To get the building completely on the photo with as little distortion as possible, a panorama of several individual shots was necessary.
