A quick stop at the shore of Lake Erie on my way to Welland Canal to catch some Great Lakes ships. Buffalo, NY across the Niagara River was already in a layer of haze since it was a late morning with a strong backlight, so I focused on the shoreline itself. Just wanted to capture the happy summer feeling on the lakefront.

How about a little Boat Break? Marshall Islands flagged SSI Marvelous steams north up the Hudson River seene framed up by the former West Shore (New York Central) Station at West Point inside the grounds of the United States Miltary Academy which is also the oldest continuously occupied military post in the nation. Built in 2013, this dry bulk carrier is 583.5 ft long with a 93.8 ft beam and a deadweight capacity of just over 37,000 tons. This cargo ship, one of 45 vessels owned by Dubai based Densay Group, is seen regularly on the Hudson serving the ports of Albany and Rensselaer

As for this depot, it is situated at MP 47.2 besides modern day CSXT's busy River Sub mainline the first station here was built in 1883 and the present Gothic Revival styled depot dates from 1926. The last passenger train called in 1958 and in 1972 the Academy's class of 1947 purchased the station from Penn Central and restored it and gave it to the Corps of Cadets. Today it is an event space available for rental by the United States Corps of Cadets, active duty military personnel assigned to or stationed at West Point, civilian employees and Stewart Army Sub Post employees, their dependents, and other persons as authorized by the Garrison Commander.
