Seeking shelter for the very heavy rain. Like the english expression "It's raining cats and dogs".

Thanks to everyone for your kind comments, awards and faves! I always tell myself that I will go through and thank each individual on each image but I never seem to have enough time. So please know that all of you are very much appreciated!!!

It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.

Not your typical high school portrait.

You must seek the land of faith

an eternally cheerful valley blooms

holy beech trees fall through the darkness

so warm and mild the sunbeam.

Georg Philipp Schmidt von Lübeck (1766 - 1849)

Stawell's two tallest buildings, the town hall and the local Uniting church were the only parts of the town above the fog on this chilly mid winter morning. Taken from the Big Hill lookout that lies just to the northeast of the main town, this view is looking south and west toward the Grampians Ranges which are just visible on the horizon. The single clear line across the top is the main Adelaide to Melbourne highway and I am guessing that the steady stream of trucks and cars would be keeping it a little clearer. Also, the road itself is just a little bit higher than the surroundings.

The time on the town hall clock was ten minutes to eight (just in case you are trying to zoom in on it!)

When darkness calls, seek the light.

We are going to have an ice storm, hopefully not too bad.

Ego is like the cloak that shadows the spirit - always doubting, always seeking validation from outside of itself, it is controlling, manipulating, and often driven by primal needs.

Its that voice that tells you - you cannot do this, that voice that makes you feel insecure. Or that voice that tells you to cheat - it will be ok. It is like the voice of the demon that constantly needs to control you. It constantly pumps itself up in order to make you feel good and desperately seeks validation from others. It cringes and becomes the victim when under scrutiny. It disarms you in so many ways.

Spirit on the other hand sits quietly in the background, not judging, just 'being' waiting silently for you to acknowledge and tap into this great fountain of wisdom laying dormant inside of you.

Spirit never doubts, spirit never judges, spirit just 'is' your greatest reservoir that never needs validation. It is your authentic self that knows all things.

When man has exhausted everything outside of himself - only then may he turn in on himself and discover the greatest gift of all - that which lays dormant inside of him.

Society has orchestrated it this way - not wanting you to gain this power that is within each of us.

waves on a sleepless night.

It was cold and snowing slightly when I found this buck today. He was standing outside a church looking in the window as if to say, "Invite me in and I'll be your friend." ... I would have if I could have!

Seek the light is a title from the Waterboys! I was walking across the beach and noticed this small cave in the cliff face was flooded with late evening sun, so guessed it would be a good vantage point!

Spin me round again and rub my eyes.

This can't be happening.

When busy streets a mess with people

would stop to hold their heads heavy...

ll semble que la perfection soit atteinte non quand il n'y a plus rien à ajouter, mais quand il n'y a plus rien à retrancher.

(It seems that perfection is attained not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to remove.)

Perhaps the most common recommendation from enlightened minds through the ages, from Socrates to Einstein...yet we continue to struggle mightily to even seek it let alone find it. In that spirit, French for my non-English speaking amis to make it simpler...;-))

(Obviously didn't help the Flickr tagmaster, however, who clearly prefers massive confusion...)

THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT AND FAVES

ON THE REACTIONS I WILL TRY TO RESPOND BACK

Light gives of itself freely, filling all available space. It does not seek anything in return; it asks not whether you are friend or foe. It gives of itself and is not thereby diminished. ~Michael Strassfeld

Happy Caturday! Thank you all for visits, favs and comments, it's greatly appreciated!

Call out. Call loud: ‘I’m ready! Come and find me!’

The sacks in the toolshed smell like the seaside.

They’ll never find you in this salty dark,

But be careful that your feet aren’t sticking out...............

Pictured is one male and 2 females.

It was exciting to see this flock of about 20 move in a couple days ago. They are increasingly scarce, and a species in decline.

More Info:

A heavyset finch of northern coniferous forests, the Evening Grosbeak adds a splash of color to winter bird feeders every few years, when large flocks depart their northern breeding grounds en masse to seek food to the south. The yellow-bodied, dusky-headed male has an imposing air thanks to his massive bill and fierce eyebrow stripe. The female is more subtly marked, with golden highlights on her soft gray plumage. This declining species is becoming uncommon, particularly in the eastern United States.

A few rays of sunshine are so important in winter. Hope the sun is shining on you and yours this weekend :)

"We were made to enjoy music, to enjoy beautiful sunsets, to enjoy looking at the billows of the sea and to be thrilled with a rose that is bedecked with dew… Human beings are actually created for the transcendent, for the sublime, for the beautiful, for the truthful... and all of us are given the task of trying to make this world a little more hospitable to these beautiful things."
