A small flock of Short-billed Dowitchers enjoyed a pitstop at a local pond in early May. They were here for a brief stay - to rest and refuel before embarking on their next leg of migration to their breeding grounds further north in the subarctic tundra.
It's a delight to watch them feed and probe their bills - 'sewing machine' style - into the mud for aquatic insects.
I am glad that I was able to capture some shots of these three individuals in which their eyes were visible and their feeding positions were synchronized.

Thank you very much for the visit and comment.
** I enjoyed seeing a lot of flamingoes in flight over the bird reserve at Pont du Gau.
The Camargue was a super place to watch birds though in September it is the Greater Flamingoes that steal the show. They were there is very large numbers . I did not take a tripod so this and all the other birds shots were using the camera hand held. It could be sharper I know but I am fairly happy with it
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT TO MY STREAM.
I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL IF YOU COULD NOT FAVE A PHOTO

Gotta balance the focus stacked images every so often and the Meyer Optik lens has been wondering when I would get off of f/8 and open it up a bit. Well this week seemed like the perfect opportunity to do just that. No stacking here, just one image with very little focus but plenty of colorful bokeh. I did have to wait for some direct sunlight but the rest was easy, Put a curly pile of scaly gold and blue ribbon on a mirror, stick it in the sun filtered a bit with a white screen and go bokeh hunting with the Meyer Optik 50mm f/1.8 set on wide open and a Nikon PK-12 14mm extension tube. After seeing a potential angle a bit of poking and prodding completed the look. The colors were so vivid not much post processing was needed. Truth be told I did take plenty of shots and I started with artificial lights but the bokeh came out looking a bit soft and diffused so I waited and hoped for sunlight which I got the next day in the afternoon.
The image measures app 2 x 3 inches but hard to say, the curl measured 1 inch in diameter. Made for the Macro Mondays group, Theme, "Wrapping".

Pretty hardy plants, a rocky shoreline, dark sand, foamy sea on the way out to the blue south pacific ocean and a cloudy sky.
Printed this but the lower part was a bit too dark ... here's a humorous photo of Frank holding it in the garden :)

This phenomenon of disruptive ice slabs stacking on each other is described as " hummocks".
Taken early in the morning on an overcast day.

When traveling to the Hawaiian Island of Kauai, I was stunned by the number of chickens popping up everywhere. It wasn't until I returned to the mainland that I learned the history of the resident fowl.

This wooden carving has stood on our living room shelf for a long time now! Depending on lighting it can look either angry or calm, this is definitely on the lock down angsty side!

Looking north west towards rain showers from our hotel on the eastern shore of Osoyoos Lake. We spent a few days visiting wineries in the south Okanagan for our 30th anniversary.
Sorry for the lack of viewing and commenting this week, but I've been nursing a stinking cold and an horrendous tooth abcess at the same time, so many antibiotics and painkillers I'm rattling
I love seeing these large birds sitting up high on light poles.
I wonder if anyone has been hit by pelican poo as they are flying overhead?
Sorry I'm abit slow to catch up.
Struggling with stupid headaches again.
Not really ... actually the opposite, I had the feeling I was on holiday (which I was) sitting outside Beach Babylon with a red Vespa and a matching menu.
I'm a little bit in love with Welly's Oriental Parade on a nice day.
For some reason this year we have had a lot of grey mares having foals they had 3 in this field, but they would not stand together.
