Some time ago I was taking pictures of the reflections in these windows before I realised that inside there were little kids running about in swimming trunks - I beat a hasty retreat before anyone got the wrong idea. The centre is now closed so I thought I'd re-visit the reflections - I was trying to figure out what was going on with the crazy blue light inside when I was joined by "security".

Because Heather asked.... This is the end of a rack I built to hold the camper shell I had on my pickup truck in 2011, when I visited Heathers home in Ontario as part of the travels. I prefer having my truck open ;-). I made the rack to keep it off the ground- it's some cinderblocks with 2x4s arranged in a grid. This is looking down at the top of a piece of steel rebar I ran through the hood to keep it from sliding around. The light on the wood is what caught my attention, and abstracting it from the larger scene gives it mystery.
On the old entrance fence to the park, there is still the security notice about loose articles and such like.

MUNICH - U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly participates in the 2017 Munich Security Conference in Munich, Germany, Feb. 18, 2017. Over the past five decades, the MSC has become the major global forum for the discussion of security policy. Each February, it brings together more than 450 senior decision-makers from around the world, including heads-of-state, ministers, leading personalities of international and non-governmental organizations, as well as high ranking representatives of industry, media, academia, and civil society, to engage in an intensive debate on current and future security challenges. Taken at Animatic Con held at the Holiday Inn Eastgate in the Eastgate suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio. From their site: "Animatic Con started in March of 2015 with the idea of delivering to the fandoms across the U.S. a convention that was fun, and had a higher purpose. After much consideration and discussion, we decided that we wanted to help raise funds for Autism . . ."
This guy was providing security at the event - no - for real! How many people do you think tried to sneak past him or cause any trouble? I know I didn't and wouldn't! How about you?

Security System is an unlimited network of roughly simulated cameras, motion-sensors, intercom devices, loudspeakers and control consoles. All these faux-technological devices are made out of loosely painted wood, cardboard and found materials, including cigar boxes and twigs. They gain what credibility they may have as audio/visual machines from blinking light-emitting diodes. In this they are just like the “real” fake security camera at the Galveston Art Center that inspired them. A limitless edition of sort-of art multiples, the piece expands through time and space as I make and distribute more of its various elements. It’s first ten elements, all cameras, were awarded as trophies for the Cinematexas International Competition – innocently installed in the home offices of filmmakers around the world.
The war on Ukraine is having an enormous impact on the agrifood sector, both in terms of national economies and on global food security.
Around 50 countries depend on Russia and Ukraine for one-third of their wheat supply. Many of them are the least developed or low-income, food-deficit countries in northern Africa. In the SEMED region, Egypt, Lebanon and Tunisia are adversely affected, with Morocco less so. Supply disruptions have a negative impact on food access and affordability.
It is critical to restore the ability of Ukraine to export agricultural commodities. For SEMED countries, it is essential to secure food staples, improve import efficiency, diversify trade, upgrade storage infrastructure and ports, and diversify diets.
The private sector is key to ensuring a sustainable long-term approach to tackling food security and to realising the substantial investments needed in both importing and exporting countries. Policies that set the right incentives are essential to allow the private sector to respond and grow.
This event - featuring a panel of industry, food market experts and high-level representatives from the public and private sector - will release new data on the impact of the crisis in SEMED in particular and will highlight key policy and investment priorities for the region.

To prepare for an upcoming workshop, I'm focusing on upcycling paper for my thing-a-day projects this week. I've wanted to try to make paper beads out of security envelopes for a while. I love the different patterns on the inside of them.
