FRONT PAGE

In this world of loneliness there are those that care. I can hear all the back yards around my place with people laughing and partying good. It scares me a bit. I guess that will be their consequence if it all goes south. I think I will still be cautious.

Happy Slider Sunday

THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT AND FAVES

ON THE REACTIONS I WILL TRY TO RESPOND BACK

Rousanouklooster It is also known as Agia Varvara (St. Barbara). It sits on top of a plateau that there is barely enough room for offers. According to unconfirmed sources, it will be founded in 1288, but in any case it is common ground that 156 years later, dilapidated buildings were restored. In the 16th century it was completely rebuilt in its present form, with the approval of the Abbot of the Great Meteoron.

This is an old ice house that sits off a separate island at the point of North Captiva. At one time, fishermen brought their fresh catch here for storage while they went back out for more. Now, it is a bunk house that is only accessible by boat, and it is often rented by college students and fishermen. The cistern still provides the fresh water, and it is one of the historic icons of the island...

Wishing my American family and friends a very Happy Thanksgiving! A day where we celebrate and recognize our blessings. I would like to express my gratitude for your taking time to check out my works, for sharing your beauty and wisdom and for your valued friendships, regardless of where you may live. You make my day. Thank you!

The woman behind "Mary Had a Little Lamb" is also responsible for Thanksgiving's recognition as a national holiday.

Writer and editor Sarah Josepha Hale convinced President Abraham Lincoln to officially declare Thanksgiving a national holiday, after three decades of persistent lobbying. The author also founded the American Ladies Magazine, which promoted women's issues long before suffrage. She wrote countless articles and letters, advocating for Thanksgiving to help unify the Northern and Southern states amid gathering divisions. Hale kept at it, even after the Civil War broke out, and Lincoln actually wrote the proclamation just a week after her last letter in 1863, earning her the name the Mother of Thanksgiving.

This waterfall is off of the beaten path and not very well known about. It has become one of my favorite waterfalls in the state.

I don't remember exactly where I shot this; probably somewhere between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz, California.

Surrounded by meadows, forests and a small lake, you can relax

Somewhere along the Mendocino County coast. Beautiful, secluded little beach, but no easy access, and my damn old knees wouldn't let me make the climb. Would have loved to have gotten down there.

“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.” ~ Henry David Thoreau

'The Basin'

At Coaster's Retreat, on The Pittwater.

A secluded beach near Sydney.

The Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.

Accessible by private boat or the Palm Beach Ferry.

The upside - seclusion, an unspoilt beach, roaming swamp wallabies and random, large, goanna lizards. Watch your lunch.

The downside - no cafe. And that's bad. Very bad. However, you can survive. Just.

Leave your car at Palm Beach. Take the ferry. You won't want to come back. Here's something about 'The Basin':

And here's one of my favourite 'chill' tracks from Digby Jones. It is called 'Under The Sea'. Perfect for a day at 'The Basin'.

This is NO HDR, NO DRI or whatsoever. This tonal range and contrast comes from the original exposure. This is why I love lakes so much!

Scratching my head lately developing an own 'style' with a couple of special treatments which - hopefully - enhance the character and atmosphere of a certain image. But I'm not feeling comfortable using 3rd party Photoshop plug-ins and the use of ordinary textures neither. Not that having an own style means everything to me, it's just that I keep challenging myself constantly, crawling towards my kind of treatment in regard to some nerve-racking experiments I've thrown myself in lately :/D.

In the caption of my previous upload Somewhere Only We Know I mentioned that we stopped at the roadside somewhere in the middle of nowhere in the north of Iceland since my girlfriend spotted a nice composition: a secluded black cabin on a hill in the distance. Despite being a bit late to our next location, we quickly stopped and took a few handheld shots and I really like how this image turned out, not only because of the trees, which are a rarity in Iceland, but also because of the light illuminating the gently rolling hills of meadow, and the black cabin right in the middle between the two mountains in the distance. I hope you like it too!

A long exposure, landscape image of one of the many rocky coves on the coastline around Portknockie in Morayshire, Scotland.

A nice, secluded beach, somewhere along the Mendocino County coast. I love this part of the California coast. All the beauty of Big Sur (farther south) without all the tourists and their RVs clogging the road.

Nice, secluded beach somewhere along the Mendocino County coastline. Too bad my old knees wouldn't let me take a hike down there.

One of the many beautiful beaches on St Helens Point, east coast of Tasmania, Australia.

Berghütte bei Brixen (Bressanone) Südtirol

Somewhere along the Mendocino County coast. Beautiful, secluded little beach, but no easy access, and my damn old knees wouldn't let me make the climb. Would have loved to have gotten down there.
