From the archives. Our cat reclining on a lazy summer afternoon. I was struck by all the color in his eyes but it turns out the monochrome version is equally interesting in all the furry detail, especially on the bridge of his nose. His name was Angel; the smartest cat to ever join our household.
The color version. His eyes had a unique coloration.

The field next to the country lane somewhere on a mountainside near Stettbach. The tree guarding the field where the sheep were grazing created such a peaceful view.

"...its one purpose is to turn. The spin of ka always brings us back to the same place, to face and reface our mistakes and defeats until we can learn from them. When we learn from the past, the wheel continues to move forward, towards growth and evolution. When we don’t, the wheel spins backward, and we are given another chance. If once more we squander the opportunity, the wheel continues its rotation towards devolution, or destruction.”

A set of SDMs get ready to depart West Chicago with a NIPSCO train. During the CNW days, power didn't run through, so one got to see "J" power quite a bit on the WSD.

Still wearing it's EJ&E orange, IBCX #818 works a cut of potash cars at the elevator in Union Mills. The vintage EMD was originally built as an SD9 for the Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range in 1957, and once worked alongside the massive 2-8-8-4 Yellowstones on that ore hauling road. It was rebuilt in the early 1990s as an SDM and was later transferred to sister US Steel property EJ&E. CN sold the #818 and the rest of the SDMs off in 2009.

Horizon Rail #858 sits in its usual spot on the Stone Co spur on Lansing's west side. This vintage EMD was built as a Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range SD18 #191. It was rebuilt by the Missabe into an SDM in the 80s and by the early 2000s had been transferred to sister US Steel railroad Bessemer & Lake Erie. Retired upon the CN takeover, the unit was sold to Larry's Truck & Electric, who later sold it to Horizon Rail. This unit recently replaced the clapped-out former Norfolk Southern B32-8 that Stone Co had previously leased for their Lansing location.
