The scribbles of the Scribbly Gum Moth (Ogmograptis scribula) on the barks of various smooth-barked Eucalyptus species. These zigzag tracks are tunnels made by the larvae of the Scribbly Gum Moth and follow the insect's life cycle. Eggs are laid between layers of old and new bark. The larvae burrow into the new bark and, as the old bark falls away, the trails are revealed. The diameters of the tunnels increase as the larvae grow, and the ends of the tracks are where the larvae get into the pupal stage.

I was stuck for a photograph today until I spotted this in a cabinet. It is one of Rowan's "works of art"- as she calls them. She does not usually do abstracts- she is more of a figurative girl at the moment. She also dabbles in installations. I think that I need to take her to more galleries- she might be the next Tracey Emin.
