I've only screenprinted on tshirts so far. Thought I'd try my hand at paper/metal. I need to use much much less ink than doing shirts. I was starting to get the hang of it.. screen looks like it got a bit clogged though.
This screen was made with an old canvas frame and a sheer fabric found at a thrift store. The design was painted on with acrylic medium by hand.
Next, goop on the paint. You don't need a lot - one spoonful will do several prints. Once the paint is on the screen, it's time to squeegee!
As part of Glasgow’s Active Ageing Week, a community group from 'Keep Creative', an arts and health GP referral programme, run by Depot Arts in North Glasgow took part in our ‘Growing Bolder’ Printmaking and Archive Project.
The group learned about fine art printmaking techniques and had a tour of the facilities. They watched our Master Screenprinter at work in the professional workshop, and took a look behind the scenes with our Archive Curator, gaining hands on experience visiting our fantastic on-site Archive. After selecting prints from the Archive the group wrote short responses to the images and on the final session had a go for themselves, creating their own original screenprint.
Cory had his first screen printing experience when he was just a teenager and knew that he had found his thing...the thing that gave him a creative outlet where he could express himself.
Watching him now do it in our own little space warms my heart like no other.

This etching (Bass Rock, Sunrise) and screenprint (Sunset over Fife) were selected from the Glasgow Print Studio Archive by Margaret from the Depot Arts Group.
“When I look at this etching by John Houston it is so alive as if the sun is breaking free and yet it’s in black and white. John has also made the image in a screenprint - eye catching colours and equally as powerful as his black and white etching.”

And so....my first ever screenprint!! I spent some time in LA working with Richard Duardo at modern multiples (interestingly enough he printed the first 6 Banksy prints when banksy first hit LA), so that was a privilege. He taught me the ways of screenprinting, and I pulled a 3 colour print of 'This way to heaven', and it turned out real nice. The colours pop much more so than the glicee I have always been working with. I have an edition of 9 on coventry 320gsm paper with the edges hand torn (deckled). Richard has published these so they all come stamped for authenticity and also with a certificate. It's like a prize. I also have 9 on cardboard but are not hand torn. I have a few left of each edition. They are 29"x13". Coventry paper; £40, Cardboard £30. If interested email myneandyours@hotmail.co.uk

The one on the right has a thick perspex top supported by clear plastic columns on a glass base. A vacuum pump removed the air sucking the substrate tightly to the surface.
