Watching the second cricket test between South Africa and India reach its exciting conclusion, a successful 4th innings run chase on a difficult pitch and a top-class Indian bowling attack. A famous victory.
Interestingness #472 - 4 Apr 2007.
Adding up your score after a difficult round of golf isn't always easy. In fact, some days it just plain old painful!
Technically: Its difficult to find an interesting golf shot after shooting for 3 days. This shot was experimental. I enjoyed the repetition and shallow depth of field, I felt it added interest.
At the Savannah River Site, the highly-efficient, biomass-fired cogeneration facility replaces a 1950s-era coal-fired plant and will result in significantly reduced pollutant emissions, including a reduction of 100,000 metric tons per year of carbon dioxide emissions.
THE SCORECARD
To establish bragging rights, there was located in the bar, a list of animals, each assigned a value based on the rarity of sighting one. The values began at 1 for an impala or duiker, increasing to 50 for an elephant, 55 for a lion, 150 for a leopard , and so on up to 200 for a kill or cape hunting dogs.

MALA MALA
Mala Mala is the oldest and largest private game reserve in South Africa. One of the first areas of private land to switch from hunting to conservation, it is spread over 70 sq miles of the Mpumalanga Lowveld. The property shares a 12 mile unfenced border with Kruger National Park and contains the longest stretch of the Sand River of any of the Sabi Sand resorts. Its varied habitats - riverine forest, acacia bushveld, and savannah - support a broad selection of wildlife, and provide excellent opportunities for spotting the Big 5 (Buffalo, Elephant, Leopard, Lion & Rhinoceros).
Upon checking in, your game ranger will greet you and accompany you throughout your stay. The rangers, selected for their knowledge of African plant, animal, and bird-life, oversee your personal service. They will be your guide for your twice daily, four-hour game drives, sit with you at meals and impart their knowledge of African wildlife with stories about the individual behavior of animals within the MalaMala reserve.
Game drives are conducted in an open safari vehicle, accompanied by a professional Shangaan tracker. Despite the refined attention to detail, you are immediately aware that you are in Africa and that the unexpected may happen. Breakdowns and stuck vehicles are a hazard of driving through donga and bush, but the staff handles this with aplomb. Radio contact, a large reserve, and excellent guides enhance the probability of seeing the big five. The camp also offers guided bush walks.
Today I fulfilled a long-held dream. I broke 80 on a regulation par 72 golf course. Honestly, I didn't know if I'd ever do it. I can die a happy man now. :)
