Located on the River Thames in the London Borough of Southwark, this is part of a larger development called More London, including offices and shops.
This sunken amphitheatre called The Scoop is used in the summer months for open-air performances; The Scoop and surrounding landscape were designed by Townshend Landscape Architects.
I'd long wanted to photograph this view, but never quite got the conditions I wanted. Thought this was another write off as well - that isn't blue sky! This bit of rock is the scene of probably my favourite climbing photograph:
And I suppose I should also admit that I fell off this route on second back when I first started climbing in 2009 😁
The Scoop is an outdoor amphitheatre situated on the south side of the River Thames near Tower Bridge.
The Scoop at More London, with the Shard lit up for Christmas, with a different colour every day. This was a tricky shot due to the overly bright Christmas tree on the right. I ended up taking 7 images for a HDR image here, from 0.8s to 30s.
The scoop in London offers many interesting compositions. In this photo, I included the Shard, tallest building in Europe. I have got a weak spot for glass buildings at night. I think they look awesome. On this particular night, there is a light drizzle. A wet surface affects how the colors and light shows. It is not wet enough for reflections, but enough to make the colors deeper and darker.

Ullswater is the second largest lake in the English Lake District, being approximately nine miles long and with a maximum depth of slightly more than 200 feet. Many regard Ullswater as the most beautiful of the English lakes: it has been compared to Lake Lucerne in Switzerland. It is a typical Lake District narrow "ribbon lake" formed after the last ice age when a glacier scooped out the valley floor. When the glacier retreated, the deepened section filled with meltwater which became a lake.

This shot covers the excavated landscaped area to the left of City Hall known as The Scoop. The curving handrail illumination adds to the perspective in this composition.

My husband, Dan, has been to Scoop Lake in British Columbia several times and has always wanted me to go there too. So the two of us did go and enjoyed the beauty of the Canadian Rockies.
This is where the base camp is at Scoop Lake. The only way in and out is on airplane. This was one of 3 planes in use. This clear, chilly morning was accompanied with the lake steaming. The water was very calm and that provided the pallet for this photo.
We had a great time in this beautiful area. Thanks for looking at my stream.

The view from the scoop in the Tower Bridge area of London.
This beauty was flapping around in a basin of water in the garden so I scooped it out and she flew away after drying off. These are big, they're about 2 inches long. She was back the next day looking for some old wood to lay her eggs in. It has to be the biggest butt of all! HBBBT :)

It was interesting watching these white pelicans cruise through the ponds, scooping up water and then letting it drain from their giant beaks. Presumably they get some fish during some of those scoops but it wasn't obvious watching them from shore.

Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. Despite it being October, this guy was juggling between licking each ice cream so that they didn't melt to the floor while his partner was in the store. Looks like one is about to slip away though! A little 'Fun for Friday' to wish you all a fantastic weekend of photography wherever you are! Enjoy!
Ps. Update feed was broken for my morning upload so please consider viewing that too if you like, thanks :) flic.kr/p/2hA7KvC

Scoop?
Hanoi (Vietnam) - This morning, by chance I came across a Vietnamese woman who is not glued to her smartphone all day and night, probably. A scoop of sorts. I was so surprised—and given her uninviting gaze—that I decided to take a chance, shooting without aiming. Luckily, apart from the lady's look, nothing is wrong.
