It's always a treat to welcome the day with beautiful light. As the sun appeared over the Smoky Mountains and filled the valley, the morning fog of Cades Cove acted as a giant diffuser for the warm light and a lovely backdrop for my two favorite trees. Throughout the week I watched as their branches shed the leaves of the previous season, soon to begin the next cycle.

My customer Paula's kids have some souped up Scion cars. I took a photo of three of them the other day when at her property. They've done a nice job on building these up.

I shot this last year as a feature for Drivenmotive but never got the chance to put them up. The amount of precision and work that Mike put into this car is absolutely amazing. If you ever get the chance to see Mike in person, stop by and say hi. You won't be disappointed with him or what he's done with this Scion.

Met up with a guy that has been waiting forever for me to do a shoot of his car. I managed to get some pretty nice ones, but had to edit a rig shot first as usual.

Shot info: Suction cup rig on the roof of the car, around 16 feet long, shot with sigma 10-20mm lens at 10mm.

The thing is that even when using one-"prebuilt" preset in editing multiple pictures it's almost impossible to make them look "identical" in terms of, say, colors (as one might want them look to, specifically, when creating a set of images of the same car).

It's because POV varies, as weather and sky (ambient) light, too. Sometimes it's better to mask unwanted "reddish" tint of the road while sacrificing sky color, or car color, etc.

The Scion tC is a compact car manufactured by Toyota under its Scion brand from 2004 to 2016 over two generations: ANT10 (2004–2010) and AGT20 (2011–2016). Both generations were built in Japan and exclusive to Toyota North American Scion dealerships. The name tC stands for "touring coupe." Beginning in 2011, the tC is sold as the Toyota Zelas in the Middle East, China and South America, a name derived from "zelante", Italian for "passionate" or "zealous."

Shot taken in DECC parking lot, we got lucky with the lot being near empty when we got there.

Scion as a marque debuted in 2003 and lasted until 2016. At that time, the median age of Toyota buyers was in the 50's. It was Toyota's intention to appeal to younger buyers so that when they were ready to buy their next car, a Toyota would be on their mind.

The initial xB models, similar to the one shown, were available as 2004-2006 models.
