Christina's program for the Tweens this week was Science Experiments. The kids got to try to create static electricity with by rubbing records on cloth and hair and trying to pick up tiny objects.

The 'Cocktail Shaker'. Taking off from the 'Space Bar'... this rocket had a cocktail shaker in the payload bay... the two H143SS's were mounted in canted pods on the sides to spin her up as she launched... worked a treat and left this awesome double-helix smoke trail.

Vic Reeves and Nancy Sorrell standing in front of the 'Custard Chucker 2000-XL' which we built for a publicity stunt for Brainiac Series 6.

The rocket was about 22" diameter and 14ft tall, the upper yellow section contained 100 litres of ready-mixed custard and two theatrical maroons. The rocket reached 1400ft and then 'detonated' the custard.

Mr. and Mrs. Burks presents hands-on science experiments based on the work of Dr. George Washington Carver. Children recreate the science of an American genius at Powderly Library .

Teachers were actively engaged in hands-on-minds-on explorations to investigate nature of science, earth and space, physical science, and life science concepts during the teacher training workshop Dr. Diana Wehrell-Grabowski conducted entitled "Implementing The Next Generation Sunshine State Science Standards In The Classroom." just playing around with some bright colored paper, a glass bowl, some water and some drops of cooking oil. Stir the pot and see what happens. If you raise the bowl up off the paper, you will get a nice blurred background. Like I said, just playing around in the kitchen!

Glass rod disappears in Wesson vegetable oil held by Bodum frothing cup, clear plastic drink cup (PETE, Recycle Symbol #1), Mason jar, and Pyrex measuring cup.
