De Markthal te Rotterdam is een woon- en winkelgebouw met inpandige markthal, gesitueerd tussen de straten Binnenrotte, Hoogstraat en Blaak.De opening vond op 1 oktober 2014 plaats door koningin Máxima. Naast een overdekte markt herbergt het complex 228 appartementen, 4600 m² winkelruimte, 1600 m² horeca en een parkeergarage voor meer dan duizend auto's.
De Markthal is ontworpen door architectenbureau MVRDV. Het grijze natuurstenen gebouw heeft een boogvorm als van een hoefijzer. Het heeft aan beide kopse kanten een glazen gevel. De gelamineerde glaspanelen, waarvan de meeste vierkant en 1485 millimeter breed zijn, zijn gehangen in een kabelnetgevel van 34 meter hoog en 42 meter breed, die daarmee de grootste van Europa is. Iedere gevel telt 26 verticale en 22 horizontale kabels.
De binnengevel van de Markthal is bekleed met een 11.000 m2 (twee voetbalvelden) groot kunstwerk van Arno Coenen en Iris Roskam, getiteld Hoorn des Overvloeds. Deze titel verwijst naar de Cornucopia, een hoorn uit de Latijnse mythologie die overvloed en verzadiging symboliseert. Het kunstwerk toont sterk uitvergrote vruchten, groenten, granen, vissen, bloemen en insecten. Op de achtergrond is ook de St. Laurenskerk met toren te zien. Het kunstenaars-duo probeerde met dit kunstwerk "dat kinderlijke gevoel van verwondering dat je had als je vroeger Erik en het Insectenboek las, of Alice in Wonderland" op te roepen. Volgens de atheïstische Coenen en Roskam is hun werk "een verering van de natuur, een ode aan het heelal" die zij "minstens zo indrukwekkend en goddelijk" noemen als het scheppingsverhaal.

Voorlopig de laatste foto uit Bulgarijë toont trein 361 uit Sofia naar Thessaloniki in de buurt van Dragichevo.
Van de Skoda-locs reeksen 43, 44 en 45 zijn slechts twee locs gemoderniseerd: de 44 001, die we zien op deze foto, en de 44 002. Ze zijn uiterlijk vooral herkenbaar aan de geel-blauwe schildering, die ook werd toegepast op de gemoderniseerde locs van de reeks 46. De opknapbeurt werd uitgevoerd door Koncar in Zagreb.
Achter de loc zien we twee Griekse rijtuigen, helaas beklad met graffiti...

Hij is ook de decadente aristocraat die er genoegen in schept de vunzigheid, politieke wanorde, hypocrisie en eenzaamheid van zijn tijd uit te beelden. Hij schetst de verschoppelingen uit zijn maatschappij, in hun intiemste momenten. Hij is ook de kapotte mens die zelf deel uitmaakt van de zwarte nacht van Parijs en de kunstenaar vooral die kijkt en weergeeft, zonder te moraliseren en zonder pretentieus commentaar.

De kunst van Gentenaar Klaas Van der Linden is een poging om de sfeer van de nacht weer te geven. Vanaf zijn twaalfde gaat hij 's avonds graffiti schilderen. Hij studeerde Vrije Grafiek aan LUCA School of Arts in Gent. Behalve muurschilderingen maakt hij ook schilderijen, met een unieke combinatie van verf en spuitbus op doek.
In 2016 nam schilder en tattoo artist Bertus Gieskes het transformatorhuis op de spoorwegovergang aan de Oldenzaalsestraat te Enschede onder handen.
In ongeveer drie uur maakte hij van het grauwe huisje vol illegale graffiti een kleurrijk kunstwerk.
Het plan om er iets mee te doen lag alsinds 2015 bij de Gemeente Enschede, maar dat het bij Gieskes terecht kwam was puur toeval. Een ambtenaar van de gemeente kwam in de studio van Bertus voor het zetten van een tattoo.
Ze raakten met elkaar in gesprek over het idee om het trafohuisje te beschilderen, waarna het idee verder werd uitgewerkt.

In about three hours, he transformed the drab little building covered in illegal graffiti into a colorful work of art.
The plan to do something with it had been with the Municipality of Enschede since 2015, but it ending up with Gieskes was pure coincidence. A municipal official visited Bertus's studio to get a tattoo.
They started talking about the idea of painting the transformer substation, after which the idea was further developed.

The shared cycle and footpath is a shared traffic space for pedestrians and cyclists. And as with any common traffic area, the rights of the weaker also apply here.
The rules are clear: the faster road user must be considerate of the slower ones. This includes that cyclists have to drive at walking speed where they could endanger pedestrians. The cyclist does not have the right of way, but "the vehicular traffic must adapt its speed to the pedestrian traffic" (StVO to sign 240).

"The Morteratsch Glacier (romansh: Vadret da Morteratsch) is the largest glacier by area in the Bernina Range of the Bündner Alps in Switzerland.
It is, just after the Pasterze Glacier and Gepatschferner, the third largest and by volume (1.2 km3) the most massive glacier in the eastern alps. The Morteratsch Glacier is a typical valley glacier with a pronounced ice front. The accumulation zone lies between the peaks of Piz Morteratsch, Piz Bernina, Crast' Agüzza, Piz Argient, Piz Zupò and Bellavista. From Piz Argient to the ice front in the Val Morteratsch, its horizontal extent is about ~7 km (4.3 mi), with an altitude difference of up to 2,000 m (6,600 ft). Together with the Pers Glacier, originating at Piz Palü, which joins the Morteratsch just below the rock formation Isla Persa ("Lost Isle"), it covers an area of about 16 km2 (6.2 sq mi). The volume of the ice is estimated to be about 1.2 km3. The Morteratsch Glacier drains through Inn River and Danube into the Black Sea.
In spring, depending on the snow conditions, a 10-km-long ski-run accessible to skilled skiers is marked on the glacier. It leads from the Diavolezza aerial tramway terminus to the Morteratsch inn and has an altitude difference of 1,100 m (3,600 ft). The RhB Station Morteratsch used to be situated directly at the ice front of the glacier. The ice front has receded over 1,800 m (5,900 ft) in the meantime, and cannot be seen from the station today.
Yearly length change measurements have been recorded since 1878. For the period to 1998, the overall retreat was over 1.8 km (1.1 mi) with a mean annual retreat rate of approximately 17.2 m (56 ft) per year. This long-term average has markedly increased in recent years, receding 30 m (98 ft) per year from 1999–2005. Substantial retreat was ongoing through 2006 as well.[1]
During the time that measurements have been taken, the glacier has advanced a few meters in only four years. Since the large glaciers react slowly to short-term climate changes, these advances cannot be accounted for by increased precipitation in the accumulation zone. On the high moraines to the left and right of the ice front, which are still nearly free of overgrowth, the enormous quantities of ice which were still being pushed down here at the end of the "Little Ice Age" in the middle of the 19th century can be seen.
Der Morteratschgletscher (rätoromanisch Glatscher dal Morteratsch oder Vadret da Morteratsch) ist ein Alpen-Gletscher in der Berninagruppe im Kanton Graubünden in der Schweiz. Zusammen mit dem Persgletscher ist er mit einem Volumen von rund 1,2 Kubikkilometern der volumenstärkste Gletscher der Ostalpen. Seit Beginn der systematischen Beobachtungen im Jahr 1878 hat der Gletscher 2,2 Kilometer an Länge eingebüsst, er ist heute noch rund 6,4 Kilometer lang und damit der drittlängste Gletscher der Ostalpen, nach Pasterze und Gepatschferner in den österreichischen Alpen.
