`Do we make sense, I think we do
In spite of everything that we've been through
Oh and you say black and I say white
It's not about who's wrong
As long as it feels right
Don't think those stars won't align
Under your scars I pray
You're like a shooting star in the rain
You're everything that feels like home to me, yeah
Under your scars, I could live inside you time after time
If you'd only let me live inside of mine
Live inside of mine

Never be Ashamed of a scar
It simply means you were stronger than whatever
Tries to hurt you

Everytime you hurt me...it stays a scar...but every scar makes me stronger only.

This is Plover Scar Lighthouse, AKA The Abbey Lighthouse as there are the ruins of an Abbey a short distance away. It is an active 19th century lighthouse situated at the the entrance of the river Lune, near Cockersand in Lancashire, England.

People don't realize that abuse is not always slaps or kicks or shoves.. it's not always physical. It can also be emotional. Emotional abuse is still abuse and it leaves marks and scars just like physical abuse. If you have trouble knowing what constitutes as emotional abuse google it.. you'll find words like gas lighting, manipulation, and silence being used as a punisment. You will also find the word narcissist. This abuse like any other can have lasting effects on the victims. People who put their trust and love and care and support into these abusive people suffer the most. Sometimes they go back to the person repeatedly thinking they will change but no abuser will change unless they acknowledge themselves and their habits and WANT to change them. Eventually the people who are their biggest supporters will run out of love and will finally leave for good. But they will take their scars with them when they go..
Looking in to Gordale Scar, near Malham, North Yorkshire. A very grey wet day when I visited this gorgeous place, perhaps in bad weather the landscape is even more dramatic!
As well as working this weekend (joy), I managed to fit in a flying visit to Kendal Mountain Film Festival. Highlight of which was telling Alan Hinkes why he couldn't join my (new) climbing club 😆
Anyway, friends recommended Scout Scar for a flying visit. Beautiful outlook but bloomin' hard to photograph! This is the view looking southwards towards Arnside, Silverdale and Morecambe Bay.

A side building of more recent date has been demolished to make space for new accomodations, temporarily exposing these interesting details.

“I walked away a little disheartened, thinking, 'Oh well. I came a long way to meet the Wizard of Oz, but I guess I won't. Such is life.”

People sometimes ask me why I wear scars on my SL avatar, why when we can be perfect in this world I chose not to be? Today I read an article that perfectly sums up how I feel about this.
"I wish I could say you get used to people dying. I never did. I don't want to. It tears a hole through me whenever somebody I love dies, no matter the circumstances. But I don't want it to "not matter". I don't want it to be something that just passes. My scars are a testament to the love and the relationship that I had for and with that person. And if the scar is deep, so was the love. So be it. Scars are a testament to life. Scars are a testament that I can love deeply and live deeply and be cut, or even gouged, and that I can heal and continue to live and continue to love. And the scar tissue is stronger than the original flesh ever was. Scars are a testament to life. Scars are only ugly to people who can't see."

Raw shot as taken in SL with Black Dragon
Winter chill returned to the Yorkshire Dales and I spent the evening wandering on Scales Moor and Twisleton Scar.
Ingleborough was bearing its winter coat again as the snow flurries continued to come through borne on strong Norherly breezes. There was just enough texture in the sky when I took this shot and then the skies began to clear as sunset approached.

Ladder stiles are common on walks and you find they get taller at the end of a walk :-))
After a great couple of days in the Yorkshire Dales and not wanting to stay around for a sunset that wasn't going to happen we made our way back to the M6.
The sky had cleared on the horizon during the drive and it was either Lancaster or here. Not wanting to risk rush hour Lancaster we opted for Plover Scar.
I first met fellow flickr user Mike Tonge here and he kindly talked me in to the parking area after a brief navigation faux pas on my behalf. You'll be pleased to know Mike, I made exactly the same mistake again and ended up at Cockerham Sands.
It had been incredibly windy in The Dales and it was even more so here. With no tide to play with it's quite a struggle to photograph. But I do like a lighthouse and on the NW coast it's distinctive shape and isolated feel make it a worthwhile journey. Even if you mess up at first.
Had a little exploratory wander up on the flanks of Ingleborough with Pete Rowbottam to see if we could find something different of interest in that area. Having done Twisleton and Southerscales to death we felt the need to try another location.
We scouted a few likely spots for sunset, but the prospects did not look good as low cloud and strong winds settled in by late afternoon.
We had seen this old split Hawthorn on the edge of White Scar and it looked promising with the winter sun predicted to be setting at a nice angle for the pavement and tree. So in the off chance we would get a window in the weather we ended up heading to it as dusk approached.
Fortune favours the brave (or foolhardy) and we got 10 minutes of sunlight before it was swallowed up in the gathering gloom. This was one of the early shots in that window.
