Could only be the impressive tunnelbana underground network of Stockholm.

A few months back now, but I thought to share this vantage point over Harbour bridge, Luna Park and Opera House

I went to the Lofoten Islands for snowy cliffs and mountains, but came back with lots of images of man-made features. This shot was actually one of my favourites - reminds me of the Scandi thriller.

This was taken in Sakrisøy in Norway’s Lofoten isles (EM120524)

A beautiful winter evening in Sydney harbor. Overlooking the two icons and thinking it is such a privilege to live here.

Another evening in Sydney with the Scandi club. The harbour knows how to pull out magnificent colours. Sydney at its best!

Not an easy skin to make but what a truck it is, only need a decent V8 sound now :)

It is quite hard to make out this amazing staircase in the Helsinki Central Library.

It is like two staircases going down opposite each other, beautiful construction with wooded hand rails.

( I made the image black and white in order to gain more detail from the composition.)

There must have been a very innovative group of architects that put this building together - thinking outside the box all the time.

Scandi workhorse on the evening service from Denmark.

This is THE Bridge from the Scandi Noir series starring Saga. It is taken from the plane overlooking the point where the bridge emerges from under the water on the Swedish side.

A small model shoot that was taking place so I asked if I could have a couple of shots too. The amazing architecture is understandable that it makes a good backdrop.

I was using a wide angle lens which was not ideal for portraits but was perfect for the low light and wide vistas at some of the stations. Think there are some 107 stations on the Stockholm Tunnelbana and 96 of them have art. Oh would have that been nice on the Elizabeth line !!!

V-Huset (V-building) is an iconic housing project in Ørestad, Copenhagen. The V in the name was derived from its V-shaped floorplan. But the V also returns on the south façade of the building with a huge invasion of triangular balconies. When reflected in the windows behind, they remind me of a large fleet of Viking ships, conquering the skies. And this association also matches its Scandinavian location. The building was designed by Bjarke Ingels Group & JDS.

An image from last year taken at Estrahorn in the far South East of Iceland, it's very remote out here and feels it too.

I've not taken anything recently that I'm happy to upload on here and I'm not uploading possibly below par images just for the sake of it, so I'll continue to find shots from the archive until (hopefully) I get something worth posting soon...

This was shot at Sunset with the low sun illuminating the fantastic and dramatic form of the Eystrahorn, this is shot a lot less than it more famous neighbour at Vestrahorn.

There is a headland here that basically has 2 beaches either side, the beach to the East had enormous breakers coming pounding in, which were great to shoot but the sunlight was far more prominent on this side hitting the gnarly tops.

A long exposure image of the sunsetting across the water looking at the city. I am amazed the ship rigging is so clear as it was slightly moving with the currents.

First shot from the recent trip to the absolutely amazing country of Norway, after missing the Aurora in Iceland I got talking to 2 girls from Tromso who said it is so good for the Northern Lights there... a week or so passed and we decided to get a trip going....

This was shot on the first morning, 20km South of Tromso, and the only morning where a sunrise shot would be possible due to poor weather and severe snow blizzards, it was 'only' -10 this morning, quite warm considering what was to come!

Only 2 out of 4 of us got up this morning to see what we could get, we had arrived the night before and it was all in darkness so we had no idea of our surroundings at all, arrving an hour before dawn gave me a little time to scout it out and come up with my favourite shot, which is this one, the pink hued light lasted for no more that 2 minutes maybe even less and thankfully I was already set up, never seen morning light like it, welcome to Norway.............

....As for the Aurora... well it didn't happen that night.

A fabulous morning down on the beach at Stokksnes where for once the wind wasn't blowing a hoolie and the clouds weren't blocking the upper peaks of Vestrahorn Mountain, in fact you couldn't have asked for much more with the morning light playing ball lighting up all the detail in the rugged peaks. The light here, as with Iceland can be very very different to what we get in the UK with some very unsual colours at times, and cloud formations that just defy belief, at this time of year you're only looking at about 4+ hours of daylight per day, but in the those 4 hours it's like a permanant golden hour, if the clouds and rain/snow play ball it can be magical.

No matter how many times you come here it's pretty much guaranteed to be totally different each time, you never know what you will come away with, whether that might be a good soaking, a face full, and camera bag full of black sand that has been pelted at you at 80mph or more, the wind trying to rip the car doors off, or hopefully some decent images. Having experienced all of that here it was great to just be able to shoot for once! Although the other scenarios are certainly charachter building!

An absolutely freezing cold day at Kirkjufell on the Snaefellsness Peninsula in Iceland.

The waterfalls here at Kirjufellfoss had been reduced to just one stream with the majority of them totally frozen, giving a really different take on the scene from what I had shot here before, this was shot around sunset with a large number of storms rolling past, one of which can be seen drifting past to the left.

I don't usually include people in my shots but couldn't resist this one as the lone person was not only ideal for scale, I like how they are pointing towards the mountain taking a photo.

Decided to give my green & yellow S a makeover in the current colors. Most of the paintjob has been remade to add or improve details.

The morning after the night before....

A few miles South of Tromso in the Arctic Circle, Norway, on a farm where I was staying for a few days. The night before had been an incredible Northern Lights display, still the best I've ever seen, but after a late night, no rest for the wicked and up for sunrise back into the deep snow again.

This scene was just at the rear of the farm, the light around these parts seems to be very different with loads of pinks and purples often visible in the early and late hours, this mornings sunrise, although nothing special was still enough to give this gorgeous lighting onto the mountains to the rear here, and pick out all the detail in the snow laden trees, with the little red hut seemingly perfectly placed to finish the scene off.

Despite being the coldest place I've ever been to, still to this day Norway is by far my favourite place I've ever been, and somewhere I really want to explore a lot more when we are able to again.

The imposing skyline of the floodlit Helsinki Cathedral against the dark sky. Shot taken on our first day in Helsinki, and the first clear sky for several days since being in Finland. The Senate Square is a very large area which was the centre point of a very moving tribute to Ukraine a few evenings later having endured three years of war with Russia.

I was determined to get out and get some images captured before any change in the weather, so that evening before our evening meal was a discovery walk about for me with a dslr to get some handheld shots.

Following on from yesterdays upload I've been going through my Iceland images, seeing that is where I should be right now..

Really surprised at how many images I've managed to find that hadn't been touched, including this one taken not long after sunrise at Vestrahorn, Stokksnes.

A very different image to the last one, cropping in lot tighter into the mountain, giving a better view of the mountain to the rear often called 'Batman Mountain' with the glowing morning clouds reflecting into the wet sands.

If I can't be there, this is the next best thing at the moment.

Back to Iceland again, this one was a totally unplanned shot, we had stopped to shoot a Mountain Range nearby that that really did resemble a pencil sketch, I was really taken with it, however upon finding somewhere to stop we came across this road with what looked somebodys house at the end and decided to explore...

What obviously was once somebodys house was now long abandoned and forgotten, right by the coast it was a beautiful location but obviously had become too much trouble to live there any longer being cut off from civilisation.

The light was getting really good so we decided to shoot this before going back to the mountain range half a mile or so away, pics to follow of that...

I'd spotted this little patch of grasses here but getting to this spot without leaving footprints involved walking over what did appear to be a frozen pond with a dusting of snow on top so it one foot in front of the other very carefully, thankfully everything was frozen solid.

It's been 3 years since I could get over again to Iceland again, with Covid hitting us, so this trip was much needed!

Over the course of 8 days we did struggle at times with some absolutely foul weather and winds into to 80/90mph region at times but despite all the we managed to see the Aurora again twice and I visited about 4 ace new locations that I had never been to before, so I'm not one to complain!

This is one of the spots I hadn't been to before due to road closues on previous visits, it's sat at the West end of in the far South of the Island, and this is the only place you can up above it, with (remarkably) hardly any wind this morning it was perfect for a very long exposure giving a surreal look to proceedings, NiSi 10stop filter plud 4 stop medium GND filter. I took some 'regular' images as well but given that you might not get these conditions on any other visits this was the image I wanted the most. It's quite a precarious spot to be perched to take this so you really do not want ANY wind!

No, not a new Scandi Noir crime series, but a fairly makeshift fence erected (I think) to prevent grey seals coming too far up the beach during the winter breeding season.

Taken a crisp winters days at Holkham dunes, North Norfolk.
