This shot is from my good friend and photographer Brian Klepper.

Can you find me in the scene? I had just finished shooting and began the hike back, and he spotted me. I am a small black spec about one third up from the bottom and towards the left.

...really against a harsh hot environment. When one sees the vast dry White Sands Park one really sees the scale and strange environment that a flower can even grow. Yes I laid down to get image - soft for a change but then found sand everywhere, Had to be extra careful changing lens here.

This comparatively large hummingbird, which is endemic to the Atlantic Forest biome, is easily identified within its range by virtue of it being the only larger, predominantly green and gray-plumaged hermit, with a rather long, decurved, bill.

A great shop for exotic pets. This is where we bought Mr. Crawley (may he rest in peace) years and years ago.

I chose the wrong time to visit this waterfall, a great lack of water.. there is the remains of an old mill on the site, not much remains and it is mostly covered by the undergrowth.

The New Haven RR boxcar at left is a "hirail" version that came ready to run from S Helper Service. The reefer at right was a "shake the box" scale wooden kit from Kinsman.

Wikipedia: Pholiota squarrosa, commonly known as the shaggy scalycap, the shaggy Pholiota, or the scaly Pholiota, is a species of mushroom in the family Strophariaceae. Both the cap and the stem are covered in small, pointed scales that are pointed downward and backward. The crowded gills are yellowish, then later rust-brown. The mushroom has an odor that, depending on the author, has been described as resembling garlic, lemon, radish, onion, or skunk. It has a strong taste, resembling radishes. (I haven't tasted them, nor have I smelled that garlic odor, etc.) Common in North America and Europe, it is a secondary parasite, in that it attacks trees that have already been weakened from prior injury or infection by bacteria or other fungi. It has a wide range of hosts among deciduous trees, although it can also infect conifers. It can also live as a saprobe, deriving nutrients from decomposing wood. Though edible to some, it may be toxic, especially if consumed in combination with alcohol. The mushroom contains unique chemicals thought to help it infect plants by neutralizing defensive responses employed by them.
