There's a storm headed our way tonight and into the weekend. A pretty good one too - with up to 100 km winds and heavy rainfall warnings. I have no idea how weather savvy birds are but perhaps that explains why there was heavier than usual activity at our bird feeders today. This Junco and a few of his friends came to fill their bellies several times and seemed particularly fond of the left over berries from our burning bush. I was inside the house shooting through a window to avoid spooking them and grabbed this shot in a rare moment of sitting still. Hopefully, they can find a safe spot to ride out the storm.

A little White-crowned Sparrow juvenile keeps an eye on the sky as a noisy racket builds overhead, playing it cool but cautious.
This is what my partner will get for the savvy season swap: A filled pillowcase (so I don't have to guess sizes) and a corresponding mug rug (so to make couching even more fun).
