Not satisfied with the one a did a couple of days ago, I thought I would increase the tilt angle to near 45 degrees. I expected to hear the crash of glass when I was taking the shot.

I wasn't particularly moved by the theme this week. When I first saw the theme, I had so many ideas brewing! But once it came to actually creating a composition with something half way interesting, it was a no go. I eventually settled on this shot.....although I am still not completely satisfied with it. I have the wishy washy decision making of a photographer - it's my curse. Haha!

Cette matinée d'extrême vent m'a quand même offert l'occasion d'effectuer quelques contre-jours qui m'ont plus que satisfait. Celui que je vous présente aujourd'hui est plus un paysage (Bird Scape) qu'une photo de limicole. Le reste est le résultat du soleil qui transperçait une immense vague venue mourir sur la plage, le soleil et l'eau ont fait le reste.

That morning of extreme wind still gave me the opportunity to do some backlight shot which I was more than satisfied with. The one I present to you today is more of a Birdscape then a Bird shot. The rest is the result of the sun breaking through the water of a huge wave that came to die on the beach, the sun and the water did the rest.

Sometimes I struggle with close up shots, it's the realism I desire to showcase and at times, that falls flat. This skin by the Skinnery made this shot so easy!

Satisfies a double worded theme "Pick Two" for this week's Macro Mondays: #Delicate and #Insect.
The photo has been cropped to fit within the 3 inches or 7.6 centimeters size limit.
The sharpness was pushed too far as evidenced by the white line around the butterfly against the pale grey column.

Australian Hobby (Falco longipennis)
One of the two in Hoppers Lane. Both had obviously not long eaten - you can see the bulging crop here. Fortunately for me this one perched on top of a dead tree that had had the top lopped off and was at a reasonable height to photograph. The other one was another 8 metres higher in the top branches of another tree.

Dawn of Christmas Eve. A moment of peace alone to reflect, and for me an epiphany. The grandchildren were hyper with expectation, like many, unaware of the religious implications. I am not particularly religious, but I decided to look more into the facts surrounding the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, to see if I could find any evidence to satisfy my scientific mind. After all, the way in which we count years is based on the Event. It deserves looking into.
