well, it is time for me to say, all rights reserved ! I'm proud of and I adore this picture because the atmosphere of the lake made me feel free and very happy , which is not exactly my every day sensation !

I waited patiently for the boat to be right in the middle of the light and got a big satisfaction , I even guessed the right combination of aperture and time.

Lazy day on Heart Lake

Shot on the streets of Vienna with the Apple iPhone 13 mini.

I wanted to add something as a Throwback Thursday image, so while I was looking for something to add to my gallery, once again I started to delete images that were badly taken, and among all those forgotten photos I found this skipper as part of my 2012 files. I guess what I like about this photo is the pink tones that surround the butterfly and the clarity of its very tiny face looking at the camera.

I believe this is Fiery skipper. Skippers are endangered species, so each time I see or photograph one I have an especial satisfaction.

If want to more about skippers, here is something that you might find interesting:

It is fascinating to encounter their tiny faces and very tiny eyes...

Photography is my passion, and nature photography is my favorite.

I have been in Explore for more that a hundred times, and it is an awesome experience to have your photos showcased in such a special way.

I'm in many groups, and I only add my photos to them if they are not private.

I thank your for coming today, for leaving a comment, and make a favorite of yours this photo, (if that is the case) thanks again!

The best part of this forum is the contacts and friends that I have made over the years, that have the same passion for this art that is called photography!

I've been meaning to take some shots for the CLiC group for some time but couldn't really find the time to actually do it until yesterday! So I was pretty pleased to see this one turning out to my satisfaction with just a tiny increase of contrast and no other treatment (the tones are as captured).

This one's for you, Heidi, with a very big Thanks for providing the inspiration and incentive :))) I hope you like it

Hi everyone,

It is with a great sense of satisfaction and pride that I announce that I'm stepping down as Owner and Publisher of Attention SL Magazine and all of it's various arms and wings. I started Attention SL with Jon Demen in 2016 as a niche magazine focused on the porn world and watched it grow into a beloved SL institution.

I'm passing the baton onto Tory King. He will take up the challenge of guiding it into it's future. Had I just shuttered the title, I would have been really sad. I'm thrilled he has accepted my charge to keep it alive and successful.

I'm also proud to announce that Gavin Huntsman will be continuing in his capacity as leader of the Attention on Cancer charity wing.

I have a lot of people to thank. I'm probably going to miss someone important, so please forgive me.

First of all, this project never would have gotten started without Jon Demen, Eleni Criss and Yana Grau. They all encouraged me after my experience with SL Connoisseur that I could do it better on my own. They were right and I owe them my genuine love and appreciation.

Some other early people of note: Rachel Avro, Brunella Voelisa, Isle Biedermann, Partee Mytili, Brea Brianna, Barracuz, Samantha Ansar, Stephan Buscaylet, Graham Collinson, BeeQueen Smythe, Whimsical Aristocrat ... I'm really reaching back to the heady days of early Attention when we were still figuring things out.

I want to thank Moon, Gavin and Azimuth Somme for all of their work behind the scenes.

I want to thank Ted Dosei for his friendship and for teaching me InDesign.

I want to thank the New York branch of my family, Kieth Porterfield.

I would also like to thank every photographer who has ever provided a picture or their time to this magazine. There are way too many staff and guests for me to ever, ever remember, but you all know who you are. Even if you drove me insane, I still appreciated you.

Additionally, I would like to thank all of our sponsors and advertisers who gave me some Lindens every month because they believed in what we were doing.

I'll remain on the Attention SL staff, so this is not a total goodbye.

Til next time ... I love you.

P.S What is it with mean spirited people who love to pick on the soft hearted? I read about here on Flickr and it happens in real life too. Get a life!

For the people that get picked on, I understand; It is disheartening when it happens you feel deflated and shocked but then you fight back by not changing who you are. That is the only way to win or they keep doing it because they're miserable so they want to make you just as miserable. Don't give them the power or satisfaction.

For the sociopaths; If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. The world doesn't need to hear it.

Red-throated Loon. Year 2015, I was doing the census of wintering birds for my region and seeing such a rare species, at least for us in Abruzzo, was really lucky. It will not be as beautiful as when she is in a summer dress, but photographing her in an Abruzzo port, from above a floating dock and covered only by a camouflage cloth, was still a great satisfaction. Atticus sure loves it here..fresh mountain air, a new ball and just being outdoors. In his opinion, no comparison to our city living when we aren't here.

Mom has just made her way down an embankment, and this fawn seemed to be watching her with some amazement before following. This is a very quiet road and the fawn is not in imminent danger. I believe this is the same one as in the photo "summer baby."

My one-year sabbatical from work has been very rewarding and productive. I learned so much about photography. Although I was unsuccessful at making a living with it, the experience of attempting it has triggered a lot of growth. As of today, I am returning to my day job and am happy to pursue my photography purely for my own satisfaction. As is the case with so many things in life, it's not really about "either/or" - it's much more about "and/or." I'm keeping my hand in several cookie jars at the same time. However, my Flickr activity will need to slow down a bit and I am sad about that because I so enjoy looking at everyone's fabulous pictures! :) Will be catching up slowly.

Hi, Me again...

In April 2021, I received my first 35mm as a gift from a fellow photography enthusiast. I seriously had no idea what I was doing but I immeditely knew I enjoyed it. The sound alone was enough to give me shivers!! Since then, I have shot a few rolls of film, find myself in possession of 5 new cameras, managed to process 2 rolls at home, 'scan', and now I'm ready to put them out there.

I don't ever profess to be a perfect photographer. If fact, I'm usually incredibly insecure. Digital photography always had me seeking perfection. It is silly because life isn't perfect, but regardless, I feared things like proper exposure and unconventional subjects. (Yes....insert eye roll here!)

The thing about film though, it has given me freedom it be imperfect, appreciate 'flaws' and embrace everyday life in an authentic and unpolished way. Film has given me permission to love the imperfect and see it for all its beauty. Also, the fact that my hands are on it from start to finish....well that... that alone gives me immense satisfaction.

So.....I'm saying be ready for the perfectly imperfect. And just to prove it...I resisted the urge to edit out my chicken pox scars. :-) I'm going to be brave and start sharing what I've been working on and what I love.

Here goes....

My dog very satisfied after drinking virgin water of a little hill we climbed at July on our holidays. It was a hot day so we decided to climb the hill to get a bit of that delicious and refreshing water. It was very tasty!

As the sun was going down at the Cheesering on Bodmin Moor it was obvious that bank of cloud was not going anywhere. Just thickening if anything so we just sat and waited as as I knew.. err hoped it would become wedged like a star between the land and those clouds. By this time only two other people remained sitting not far from us just watching the spectacle as we were...

I am not an experienced landscape photographer so it’s a good job I had plenty of time to choose the best options for this shot but even then I could not balance the brightness and shadows successfully to my satisfaction.

I tried hard grads, soft grads and stacked grads..no good.

This is a blend of three shots...

One for the top, one for the middle and one for the foreground rocks. Impossible without a tripod so I’m pleased I took it along.

Well Jonathan took it along actually like the gentleman he is..

The same place as the previous shot as that was my preferred composition.

The Cheesewring is a short walk (approx. 1½ km the north) across the moor. On a clear day its distinct shape can be seen from most parts of the Minions moor - standing on the edge of the Cheesewring Quarry. Its shape has been the subject of many debates; the result of weather erosion on the granite strata of the moor over many years. From the Cheesewring the views across the Cornish countryside and into Devon are nothing less than stunning on a clear day.

Lotte often lies on the shelf next to my computer, and for me, there's nothing better than spending time with her like that.

All my cats have different personalities, and we all get along well.

When I think of all my cats who have been a part of my life, I know how rich my life has become because of my animals.

Happy Caturday

I always feel a great sense of satisfaction and achievement whenever I make an image of my home county of Lincolnshire. It's such a difficult place to make landscape photographs, with its seemingly endless flat land and very few interesting focal points. Add to that the fact that pylons seem to ruin things when a good view or good light can be found and it is not difficult to understand why there are so few good landscape images of this part of the UK on flickr. This little spot on the A52 between Boston and Grantham is one location I always have in mind when travelling through the county.
