They are starting to work on Santa’s house in the middle of the city’s main park. The end result is going to be a beautiful house. Have a great Sunday.
Headed to Santa Fe, New Mexico for a meeting with TNC's Global Lands team - little time for photography but snapped this out the window of the plane while landing.
Santa zooms in - a shot for the group 116 pictures in 2016 group - theme, 'Zoom Effect'.
The picture is made up of yellow roses off hubby, Christmas lights, mandarin oranges and Cellophane wrap with Santa images.
Taken using my Canon 400mm lens, really enjoyed having a go at this theme, great fun!

When Santa Fe's "Super Fleet" painted FP45's were rolled out in 1989, they were released in the 100 number series. Shortly thereafter, the new Warbonnet painted GP60m's were going to arrive also in the 100 number series so the FP45's were renumbered into the 5990 series to avoid a conflict of numbers.
Seen here is an Eastbound doublestack train with the recently renumbered 5990 leading 102 and 107 still in the original numbers at Blue Cut on Cajon Pass in May of 1990.
Soon after this picture, a decision was made to renumber these engines once again into the Santa Fe 90-98.

Making quite a sight, four "Super Fleet" FP45's make their first trip together on the Eastbound 893 train on the North Main of Cajon Pass in November of 1989. The quartet included Santa Fe 102, 101, 100 and 104.
Santa, tell me if you're really there
Don't make me fall in love again
If he won't be here next year
Santa, tell me if he really cares
'Cause I can't give it all away
If he won't be here next year

Rio de Janeiro was the first city in South America to have a rail transportation system, and came to be considered one of the largest in the world. The first, moved by animal traction, were replaced by steam and later, in 1892, the electric trams began. Unfortunately, throughout 1964, the head of the transportation company had the unfortunate idea of BURNING the trams of Rio de Janeiro, after the governor at the time (Carlos Lacerda) decided to do away with the existing lines. Upon learning of this absurdity, a group of Americans came here and managed to salvage a few trams, which are now running in San Francisco (California) and some museums in the USA. This one in the photo is one of the few models left in Rio de Janeiro, and they run in Santa Teresa.
Santa Paula is a city in Ventura County, California, United States. Situated amidst the orchards of the fertile Santa Clara River Valley, the city advertises itself to tourists as the "Citrus Capital of the World." Santa Paula was one of the early centers of California's petroleum industry. The Union Oil Company Building, the founding headquarters of the Union Oil Company of California in 1890, now houses the California Oil Museum. The population was 29,321 at the 2010 census, up from 28,598 at the 2000 census.
The area of what today is Santa Paula was originally inhabited by the Chumash, a Native American people. In 1769, the Spanish Portola expedition, first Europeans to see inland areas of California, came down the Santa Clara River Valley from the previous night's encampment near Fillmore and camped in the vicinity of Santa Paula on August 12, near one of the creeks coming into the valley from the north (probably Santa Paula Creek). Fray Juan Crespi, a Franciscan missionary travelling with the expedition, had previously named the valley Cañada de Santa Clara. He noted that the party traveled about 9 to 10 miles (14 to 16 km) that day and camped near a large native village, which he named San Pedro Amoliano. The site of the expedition's arrival has been designated California Historical Landmark No. 727.
Franciscan missionaries, led by Father Junipero Serra, became active in the area after the founding of the San Buenaventura Mission and established an Asistencia; the town takes its name from the Catholic Saint Paula. Santa Paula is located on the 1843 Rancho Santa Paula y Saticoy Mexican land grant.
In 1872 Nathan Weston Blanchard purchased 2,700 acres (10.9 km2) and laid out the townsite. Considered the founder of the community, he planted seedling orange trees in 1874. Several small oil companies owned by Wallace Hardison, Lyman Stewart and Thomas R. Bard were combined and became the Union Oil Company in 1890.
In April 1911, Gaston Méliès moved his Star Film Company from San Antonio, Texas to a site just north of Santa Paula.
The large South Mountain Oil Field southeast of town, just across the Santa Clara River, was discovered by the Oak Ridge Oil Company in 1916, and developed methodically through the 1920s, bringing further economic diversification and growth to the area. While the field peaked in production in the 1950s, Occidental Petroleum continues to extract oil through its Vintage Production subsidiary and remains a significant local employer.
A 500-acre (200 ha) master-planned community of 1,500 homes is expected to expand the town significantly when it begins construction in 2016.
Haus Santa Fe is a 120 metre tall skyscraper built in 2006 in the Santa Fe district on the outskirts of Mexico City. The building was designed by De Yturbe Arquitectos and Orozco Arquitectos.

A replica of one of the three ships that Christopher Columbus led to the Americas in 1492, the Nao Santa Maria is one of nearly a dozen vessels that are part of the 2019 Tall Ship Celebration this weekend in Bay City, Michigan. It is shown here approaching Bay City on the Saginaw River last Thursday, and was processed in a vintage style for Sliders Sunday. Unfortunately, it wasn't under sail when photographed, and yes, I realize that the occupants aren't exactly wearing period clothing either. Oh well. :-)
