After The Pinnacles, we went 4x4 driving over the mountainous sand dunes at Lancelin. Fun as this was, nothing compared to sandboarding down the dunes, as can be seen in this and the following photo.

Explore the giant Stockton Bight sand dunes and enjoy four-wheel driving along NSW’s longest beach (with a permit). Beach and dune driving in your own 4WD is popular way to enjoy the area at your own pace. You’ll need to buy a special beach permit before steering your way onto the sandy stretch.”

Lancelin Dunes- Western Australia
Lancelin is small sea side town about 130km North of Perth,famous for it’s sand dunes, which are mainly used for off roading activities.
The area was initially a holiday camping place through the 1940s and holiday shacks were probably built in the area during this time but interest in the area grew as it was designated as a possible port to be utilised by the crayfish, or lobster fishery.
The town has a permanent population of over 600, and swells to 2,500 during the peak holiday period around Christmas - New Year.
Kitesurfing and windsurfing are popular in the ocean off Lancelin, as are sandboarding and 4-wheel driving on the beaches and in the dunes behind the town.
Lancelin è una piccola cttà costiera a circa 130 KM da Perth, famosa per l sue dune di sabbia bianca che sono la principale destinazione di molte attività “Off-road”.
Fin dal 1940 tutta l’area fu utilizzata come enorme campeggio per le vacanze ma in seguito l’interesse crebbe quando fu designata come un possibile porto utilizzabile dai pescatori di granhi e di aragoste.
La cittadina ha una popolazione di 600 abitanti che diventano 2500 durante le vacanze tra Natale e Capodanno.
Il kite e l’windsurf sono attività molto popolari nelle acque oceaniche di Lancelin come le escursioni in 4x4 sulle spiagge e sulle dune (Sic!) intorno alla cittadina.
Lancelin is world renown for sandboarding. There are plenty of Sand Dunes, and more than enough space for everyone to give it a go. This really was a great day out and everybody had a ball.
