Humboldt county‘s traffic fatalities figure for 1955 soared to seven today with the week end death of a Summit City man three miles east of Berry Summit.
The body of Doyle Samples, Summit City, 33, was found at approximately 1:15 Sunday afternoon where it had been thrown clear of a 1936 panel truck which plunged over a 300-foot embankment either Friday or Saturday.
Investigating highway patrolmen said they were unable to determine when the fatal accident occurred. According to the victims wife, he was returning home to Summit City, located in Shasta county, after having sought work at Ukiah and Willits. Samples was driving east on Highway 299 when the tragedy took place.
The panel truck was demolished.
