The texture on these rocks was fascinating. The beach was littered with unexpectedly large flat slabs of rock that I thought would have broken coming off the hill.
Tracy Tatro hit it out of the park with these little Hannah Grey Design Team submissions. they're about an inch and a half square.
Update: There must be so many disappointed/confused people -- this is a pretty popular series and I just realized it's from people searching on the name of a character from a film -- obviously these have nothing to do with that. This artist is a real person by that name.
A testing sample pends shipment to the laboratory. Currently, 14 different FDA-licensed tests are performed on every unit of blood collected which nearly eliminates the risk of HIV and hepatitis. After 24 hours, if all initial testing is negative the donated unit is cleared through an extensive quality review process and made available to the blood bank.

These are sample pieces of collimator for the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer PCA instrument, to collimate X-rays in the 2-60 keV bandpass. The hexagonal shape is created by constructing corrugated aluminum sheets and bonding them together with solder. The flying version of the PCA collimator restricts X-rays in a narrow 1 degree radius cone to enter the detector.
The sample pictured measures 1 by 2 inches with a depth of 5/8 inch. The collimators that were used on flight detector were much deeper - 7.5 inches deep.
