During our walkabout in Copenhagen, we came across this opticial store (Optikkens Hus). I thought their window display was a hoot, very imaginative. I loved the way they used dolls with their varied expressions to advertise their optical products.
I only wished their interior lighting hadn’t been so harsh on the dolls.
Regardless, it still puts a smile on my face.

I’ve recently been attacked by the urge to shoot film again. I’m afraid it’s virulent. I began as a black and white film photographer decades ago and did my own darkroom work. (These pages are littered with some of that b&w work, especially the early ones.) Now, I’ve been shooting digital for some years. So I thought, “Why not try to make digital look like film?”
I have no idea if these most recent four images look like any particular film in any particular developer. They might still look digital, since I didn’t make huge changes. The most drastic was conversion to b&w; then, a little reduction in dynamic range, some grain, and not much else.
I think film is in my future, though. In the meantime, this has been fun; and maybe I learned something, even if it’s not to try this again.

The young horse is jittery with all the people around him and the attention he is experiencing.
After a tenth look, my eyes tell me a tale of a visible divide between two American classes in 2021–- a masked blue-collar employee and unmasked (horse) investor class. In fairness, this showing is partly outdoors and there are not huge groups of investors clumped together. But there aren't workers clumped together either.

In some of these roadside stands (phone booths?) the women actually lean all the way into their customers vehicles, offering a free view, or in some cases touch, of their assets. Other stands take the activities to a completely different level. Competition at on-off areas of highways and main thoroughfares is intense. I would note that you will not see this in Taipei, which banned them quite some time ago.
